You can miss the brotherhood entirely??

Hey so I am at the part where I am going to the institute and choosing a faction to have for the ending. I wanted to choose the brotherhood of steel because I like them. I talked to paladin Danse because the quest told me to. Danse just kept telling me that we need to wait for backup. I did some side quests for Rhys and that other chick but nothing ever happened.
My buddy then told me if I had talked to the Elder of the brotherhood and I was very confused as to what he meant.
I guess theres an entire event after Kellogg that you can *just miss entirely* if you don't take the elevator out of the Kellogg room, like I did. I backtracked and the zeppelin *never happened* because of it. Is there any way to trigger the zeppelin after the fact? This is kind of silly

Given the story will only advance when you take the elevator to the roof, you need to go back to Fort Hagen and use the elevator.

However, you say your "at the part where I am going to the institute and choosing a faction to have for the ending" that gives me some serious questions about what you've been doing to get that far into the main quest without having the BoS line fully working...

If you consoled starting any quests, skipped any quests etc.., then your save is going to be really really broken if you do go back to the elevator. I would ditch the save at this point if you did use any codes, because it's not going to end well....

You aren't supposed to be able to leave the area where Kellogg is by going back the way you came. The way is supposed to be blocked (starting combat with Kellogg is supposed to seal the door leading back the way you came), forcing up up onto the roof where the Brotherhood arrival is triggered. However, being a Bethesda game, that doesn't always work.

To trigger their arrival, go back through the area where Kellogg was and exit the proper way.

Yeah this took a lot of effort for something that would have normally been "turn to the left and walk up the ladder"...

Your quest line is *absolutely and fully broken*. You won't be able to finish the game even if you do choose Institute, RR, or MM - you cannot choose the BoS, and you ALSO cannot *destroy the airship* because guess what it will not be there, and will never arrive.

It MUST be triggered at that specific point in your game, which seems to be quite a few hours ago for ya.

I did literally nothing other than wander around and do quests. I finished everything Paladin Danse wanted of me and he stopped talking to me altogether which is why I thought it was strange I couldnt continue the relay mission.
I really don't know how I did it if its *required* to go through the elevator because I definitely didn't. I just took kelloggs brain and went to the memory den because Nick told me to. I had Nick with me at the point I killed Kellogg.
I went back to Fort Hagen and went through the elevator that I should've gone through originally and the zeppelin showed up... which is.. weird.. But hey, I've got the brotherhood helping me with the Institute now

Funny enough, the game is now breaking animations LOL. I'm in the BoS power armor in the institute and the reveal with Shaun isn't as impactful because my armor keeps being torn off with every dialogue option

Nah I fixed that at the start. It *was* at like 340 something at the beginning and I spent quite a bit of time figuring out vsync at 60 lol
This game has really been a journey in the fallout series. So many strange things happening

Yeah. Happened with me as well. And with many others.

I left the Fort through the front door because I was unable to find the exit. Kept playing for hours and hours, anyway and, as stated above, the game started to break.

No issues when you go back and use the elevator, though.

in terms of doing anything for them yes

even the railroad just kill em and decipher the chip yourself

MM just avoid entirely the whole game

the institute you can kill father and become their enemy


MM are always your fallback but you can choose who to side with the other 3 without MM and still eliminate the other 2.

there is only one instance of the BoS and that's (well no 2 my bad)
1. energy plant killing any palladins in the way
2. either
-RR plant a bomb on their ship
-institute the final battle at the airport once you kill the RR you hijack liberty prime 2.0 (at least his head / torso) to destroy the blimp then it destroys the entire airport area.
