How do you make an entire game and not limit the resolution/fps to match what you need to play the game.

if a 8 yr old game is below your graphics standards, perhaps wait for the graphics update

I am not understanding your issue, are you trying to run at that? It's a standard and exists in the game's selections. Unless you mean you can't go above that... ? I've been playing at this res for like 4 years?

If you have a higher resolution or higher ghz as cheshirm says, you need to wait or use ini tweaks or a mod fix.

please bud even indie games can force a res and display black bars on the sides and cap fps to 60 without ini files and modding fixes no excuse why a AAA dev game won't run right without editing files, good for them for finally fixing it in next update but that article is 10 months old

What resolution ARE YOU TRYING to use?

What are your system specs? Please go to the top of your steam library window, click HELP > SYSTEM INFORMATION and post the whole list.

My desktop res is 5120x1440 @ 240 hertz, I can play any game in my steam library and it will launch the game, even though ive selected the max res 1920x1080 the game will still launch and everything is stretched out, also the fps is running at 240 and it breaks the game.

The only way to get fallout 4 to work is either to set my desktop res to match the games and set my hertz to match the game. Any other game does this for you.

Any other game PUBLISHED MORE RECENTLY, yes.

You haven't been playing PC games very long, have you.

Use the available mods and ini tweaks and enjoy your game. Your superultrawide screen is not normal in any way (not even recent gaming) so please stop trying to lay this on bethesda developers 10 years ago to be able to predict the future.

Okay,Jeremy...well,now that I've seen your system's specs...I don't feel too over-sorry for you. I was playing on an external monitor for the better visuals and at about 144-160 hertz.
In all seriousness, get into your control panel on Windows,and-or your graphics card's control-panel,and make a setup for Fallout 4. I do it for every game I've got. That way the system knows to dial things back for certain games, and how far.
Also: 'Of course it 'breaks the game'!' Only a _very_ modern game would _maybe_ be able to run at that rate...but not for long. Modern games are coded poorly, compared to the older games. (can't believe I bothered to post on this one...)
Your electric bill must suck.

LOL

You know what works perfect? Fallout 3 & new las vegas. It works perfect even in super ultra wide no ini files or mods required.

So you're just lazy then. Got it. good luck with any further troubleshooting.
Jerinder Aug 4, 2023 @ 6:41pm
Yes I am lazy the way I programmed my game to let the end customer figure out ini files and mods every time I feel like playing fallout 4 LOL

If you had a time machine and went back to the earliest days of PC gaming, you would literally die in a wasteland of 'why didn't they make it easy to run'.

These fixes are ridiculously simple and in the time you've been whinging here you could have been playing had you just *followed some simple instructions*.

Q. How do you find out how to do 5120x1440?
A. Google it.
Found the answer in 15 seconds.

my monitor is 6k x 6k. why can’t i run it? no threads address my issue. 3 monitors and it don’t work. send help pls.
Jerinder Aug 5, 2023 @ 9:02am
It doesn't have to do 5120x1440, when you set the res in the launcher it won't run at 1920x1080 instead running at 5120x14440 anyways stretching everything out. Previous fallout games work fine without ini & mods and even work in true ultra wide res. I know I can fix it, but I don't think the customer should be forced to patch their game up to a playable state.

You jealous plebs have no experience with superultra & ultrawide screens. Usually an unsupported game will launch with the correct res & place black bars, you don't have to go digging around in ini files.
