Is it worth it to get the GOTY version?
Or just stick with the normal version ?

Yes GOTY it.

You get access to

A smallish robot quest that unlocks parts to build robot companions.
A quest to join the raiders or abruptly wreck their day, access to a new area
A quest that takes you to a new island

And you make sure your version is compatible with any mods you may want instead of finding out later you need a DLC for something to function.

GOTY version qualifies for the free "next gen" update sometime later this year - a tech refresh for hardware introduced since 2015.

They're right. Get the G.O.T.Y. edition. :steamhappy:

Yup particularly if you want to do any amount of modding later. You will need them all.

Get the GOTY.

Yes. If you're going to go Fallout 4, go all the way. The DLC areas are as good (sometimes better) than the standard gameplay loop.

Absolutely, the DLC is the best of the series. Far Harbor is a great DLC. Nuka World is fun to explore and bringing the new groups of Raiders back to the Commonwealth, makes for some interesting settlement building. I remember the Automatron DLC being enjoyable with a very pleasant companion, and even more elements added to building settlements. The Rust Devils were cool too. Another DLC adds the ability to build Vault settlements. Fallout 4 is the best looter shooter ever, don't skip on the settlement building it's a very rewarding aspect of the game.

Best part of Fallout 4? Maybe
Best part of Fallout? Not by a long shot, New Vegas has the best DLC in the series as of yet.

GOTY all the way.. a lot of good content, I haven't even started on Nukaworld or completed Far Harbor myself and I've had all the DLC for years!

Automatron is fun too if you're really into all the robot stuff.

Even if you dont care about any DLC you need it for most mods.

Stupid question: I'm looking at Steam: How do I tell if I actually have the GOTY edition? Is it supposed to literally say "Game of the Year" in my Steam library?

Because I thought I bought an edition with all the DLCs sometime in 2020 but I don't know.

I think GOTY is $9 right now.

GOTY, always.

Take the cost of the base game then add all the DLCs separately, the GOTY is cheaper.
