Any Horizon (F4 overhaul mod) users in here?
Just wondering what people's views on it are,

Only recently started my first run with Horizon installed, and although the beginning was rough (in good and bad ways), I feel like I'm slowly getting the hang of it. So far it seems to have rejuvenated my love for and enjoyment of F4 in particular.

It's a good mod sure, used before in some playthroughs. The only problem is that is incompatible with pretty much anything. Had to learn how to make patches just so I could use this with some other mods with relative stability

Thanks for the heads up regarding compatibility! I've been tempted to try out stuff like Bleachers 2 and We Are the Minutemen, so I guess I shouldn't bother trying to combine either of those with Horizon?

What's your experience with other overhauls a la Horizon? Anything recommendable? I should probably specify that:

- I don't play hardcore/survival mode, so I'm not looking for one of those brutal overhauls where even a fart from Dogmeat can give you a deadly infection or something.

- The junk scrapper/shredder thing is a freekin' godsend! Any mod with such QoL improvements has my interest at the very least.

- The increased usefulness for every single scrappable object is also a huge plus that keeps things interesting, and makes them feel slightly more rewarding compared to vanilla F4

- The fact that even super mutants with a skull symbol have been manageable for my level 10 (or so) character - who's forced to switch between different weapons constantly due to limited ammo - is also another huge plus. I've yet to encounter behemoths and mirelurk queens though...

Well, I don't use many overhauls because of this incompatibility problem, all the hassle that comes with it, I don't think it's worth, but if you don't use many mods (which is something I do, hence the problem) they are great. Other than Horizon, I only used Frost, which overhauls the game even more than Horizon did, so, patches will be necessary. The good thing though is that they are generally popular mods, lots of patches are already made, so if you wanna use a certain mod, look at the "Requirements" of this said mod on nexus, and see if there are patches listed there for the overhaul, if there are, just install it and you're good to go. If not, well, maybe they don't conflict, which is nice, or they do and no one made a patch for it (although they can exist and not be listed there, better thing is to search on nexus). You're options now is to patch yourself the mod or don't use it.
With overhauls you have to build the game around it, it's the first mod you install and you go from there and always on a new game.
They all have a system for diseases, I think Frost did a good job with this, but they can be turn off or tweaked to your liking.
Now, about scraps, can't really say I care much, won't be much of a help with this, but I remember reading about a mod called Scrap Machine I believe, people seems to like it. You put scrap in it and it gives you the materials, good to keep track of the actually components you have.

When I played it I used parts of Horizon only. It is partly modular so you can opt to install a subset of the full Horizon. I can't remember how though.

Horizon definitely has some great ideas. Read the wiki to see what interests you.
