Install the Weapon Debris Crash Fix[www.nexusmods.com] or disable weapon debris in the game's options. That should fix it.

Are there any other reasons why the game would crash? I have this option disabled as default, but the game crashes randomly to desktop, either on loading a previous save after I've been killed or just randomly mid-run, walk, standing still, browsing through Pip-Boy, etc.

it would help to know YOUR system specs as well as any mods including ones from bethesda.

There are literally hundreds of reasons why any program will crash. They may include 'your system is failing', your hard drive is full, you're using OneDrive (which is basically incompatible at this point with this game, so many people experience issues here about it), your cloud save on steam is full, your firewall or virus scanner have begun scanning it, steam is updating and you need to restart, or your OS has updated and broke the game... that's just outside the game itself.

Thanks for the help that fixed it, pretty ♥♥♥♥♥♥ they never fixed their game and that so called fix doesn't truly fix it either. It causes problems with collision.
the game also always crashes after a while when you alt-tab at some point during your gaming session. And yes, RTX cards don't support the weapon debris option, so you either get the fix, or you turn it off, I have it turned off..

The Weapon Debris is entirely an NVIDIA "feature".
Does not show up for AMD GPUs.
Complain to team green and pin this issue.

I have the same problem. When I start the game it loads the intro, then it says press any key to comtinu... When I klik it goes straight back to windows... Can't play anymore.
Yesterday I had the problem that my machine rebooted every now and then.
After I replaced the PSU I can't even start the game as I explained above.

I have a 2GB Graphic card from AMD
I have enough space on my HDD
I have 16GB of RAM

So what is the problem?
My graphic divers ar up to date btw.

weapon debris and your ctd are different. weapon debris crashes after a while "ingame" world.

your ctd seems like a corrupted archive. game loads *.ba2 files when you are at menu phase.

but anything related with your gpu might cause it as well, your provided information is not enough to fully understand the problem.

use some 3rd part tools, do memory diags (vram + ram), see how your gpu behaves on other games.. do some benchmarks and stability tests.

narrow it down, it can be anything now.

I don't have that much other games that ask a lot from my PC.
Besides that... You say do a benchmark test... What application should I use for that? I usually don't do those things

perhaps this guide is a good start:
https://itigic.com/how-to-use-the-amd-drivers-gpu-stress-test/

quote from the link :
...However, having a tool that allows us to stress the GPU as much as possible can also serve us for other purposes in addition to checking if an overclock is stable, such as the following:

Check if the graphics has problems or is damaged, such as if there are artifacts or the computer gives you a BSOD when you stress the GPU to the maximum...

Oh btw, what OS are you running? I constantly hear bad things in relation to win11 and video games..
