Any concerns that the 2023 update will wreck mods?
Hello all, I want to start a new game, but understand there is a major update planned for 2023, most likely October. I have over 100 mods installed. Has anyone heard any updates on whether or not the update will be compatible with existing mods? Thanks.

It will break F4SE for sure, but generally it does't take longer for modders to catch up. You can disable automatic updates though, already did that

it will break anything that directly changes what the update will change, but *what* that is we won't know until we get some more details about what is in the update.

We know general things of what they're planning on, but nothing concrete or specific.

It *will* break F4SE, but beyond that is guesswork

Simply backup your Fallout 4.exe and use the old version of the game until the mods are compatible to the new version.
wait what update?

Game will recieve a next (so current, or when compared with current technology- 'dated')-gen update on consoles and PC.

Nothing big like Skyrim SE, more close to Skyrim AE. On PC it looks like it's going to be mostly bugfixes and CC content.

Nobody knows what it will do so it's literally impossible to tell. Not sure what information you're looking for, you'd need to have a Bethesda employee leak a lot of stuff in this thread. And even then it wouldn't be final or a firm technical guideline helpful in determining what mods would/could break.
Other than that nobody can provide any information to you that's even close to being helpful.

It took longer than usual for the Silverlock team to update skse after the Skyrim AE release because BGS reworked the script compiler. This forced the Skse team to completely rebuild the plugin manager, and destroyed every mod that used skse plugins (they required complete rewriting, and it took a few months for all the major mods to get fixed). Be prepared for F4SE and any mods dependent on it to take a while to be adapted if BGS does a similar compiler update for FO4.
