vault 111 door to elevator doesnt open sometimes
anyone know why this happens? whatever causes it seems to happen before even grabbing the pipboy as loading a save before grabbing it wont fix it

this bug and the one where we get stuck unable to move after we come out of the elevator happen in a vanillia game sometimes saving and relaunching the game will alllow it work other times we have to coc to the exit cell outside vault 111 though as mentioned we wont get that pop up menu that is our last chance to edit or char outside of using the console command showspecialmenu player to access the name/special settings or the showlooksmenu player to change their looks.

Almost every time I have seen someone claim this, it turns out to be one of their mods causing the issue. Mods often have undocumented features/bugs/changes. Even if the change was unintended, it can likely be a mod causing the issue.

In this case, however, the vault elevator door not opening is a known bug. It isn't a mod issue. From the wiki:

The Vault elevator may not open. Using console commands to teleport outside Vault 111 and walking to the elevator point will start the starting animation, but you will not be able to edit your character, name, SPECIAL Stats or use V.A.T.S. There is no known fix for the bug.

its 99% mod related and 1% Tunnelsnake Quest CC related...

and nobody knows WHY it does that? teleporting through can cause the "cryogenic array" sound thing to keep repeating after leaving though

It happens when you started up a new game with too many mods.

Wait a few mins after you took pipboy for the first time, then hit the button.

by "door to elevator" if you mean the fence door.. then idk.

if you mean the "vault door" then i wrote it above ^^

ahh i see. i was just starting a new save until it worked and that usually fixed it

There are a couple mods (and that's it really, that specifically identify this as an issue and specifically advise the player not activate the mod until exited from Vault 111. I suggest going to read about each of your mods.

this was happenening WAY before i got any mods that say that

Using the scientific method, you'd uninstall all mods and try again.
First with the same save file, then with a completely new game.
Then try the all of that, but also remove all CC mods.

It has to work, i lived and tried it myself. It is even written like that in bethesda support page. You probably did "something" after you took the pipboy, or you didnt wait long enough.

grab the pipboy and close it, just wait. dont do anything to interfere. go get yourself a coffe, come back later. time you need to wait depends on your mod count and your computer power.. lots of scripts need to initialize.. papirus vm is an ancient tech :P
