Is the Project Valkyrie mod worth trying?
And can it be installed on an ongoing save? So far I am at the point I just finished Fort Hagen and killed Kellog, but haven't spoken to Captain Kells yet. The mod sounds interesting. I just want to know if its really worth getting.

Sure, it's a great mod that adds a way to take over both the brotherhood and the institute.
Keep in mind, you will have to install Outcasts & Remnants as well. It's a requirement for PV.

Both should be fine to install in an on-going game at the stage you are at. Most of the quests don't stat until chapter 2 anyway.
Just a tip, grab the Cabot Family quests first.

I play it sometimes if I get really bored, as I don't care for "Companions". Companions are great, brave and will sacrifice themselves and take a bullet to save a Supermutant, raider or Deathclaw by getting right between SS and the bad guy that SS is targeting. You can give them a good weapon and they'll use it on every brahmin, rad-rabbit and rad-chicken they come across and shoot at them and not the three Supermutant suiciders charging at you.

I usually dress her in clean army fatigues or an armored vault suit with combat armor, but part of her quest line is to find her slooty "military" outfit. Meh.

It requires Outcast and Remnants. Don't like companions? Yeah, you get three of them. O & R seeks to detox the BOS by making them a little less genocidal. It's kinda glitched because after you complete the main quest and become a BOS/G Sentinel and director of the Institute, you still find BOS v. Synth battles. Or battle. Only seen it once but it was memorable.

in a word . . . NO
Thuggys mod generally get a lot of hate from these pretentious gamers that claim the writing is terrible. But I have to heavily disagree. Is it award winning writing ? No but it fits for fallout and honestly feels like a a spiritual successor to quo vagis and coito ergo sum. Not only do I recommend project Valkyrie I suggest getting its sister mods depravity, and fusion city rising as well ( FC is totally optional it doesnt really affect main quest but it adds lots of game time and is interesting for a few runs) Outcast and remnants is mandatory so I wont even suggest it.
You'll need it for valkyrie. It breathes new life into the game and allows you to literally make a new main quest combining those mods. If your an XP ♥♥♥♥♥ or really want a super long main quest you can even do it concurrently with the vanilla main quest. You just gotta know when to stop and switch back and forth so you dont lock yourself out of stuff.
Valkyrie also has so many ways to end the game theres even an option to basically take over each faction and go im running this ♥♥♥♥ now cut the crap.

I had forgotten I had the Mods (O&R + Project Valkyrie) still installed, then I'm out to to the rigmarole to get the Charisma Bobblehead and there was this Naked woman locked in a cell. She'd been in there, forgotten, so long that the clothes rotted off her but she still had a cigarette, and a match to light it.

So, I played it. Then stopped. Cuz I was playing my usual non-faction way and already killed the BOS & MM, and used a mod so that Preston Garvey never existed, and killed all the Children of Atom in the Crater, . Which makes it impossible to bring the BOS to the Commonwealth or to enter the Institute.

If you play it, read the Mod's story line so you don't mess it up

Forgot to respond oops. I am going to try it out but just to be safe I am going to do it on another playthrough instead.

Will keep this in mind.

Yeah, but the brat's mama is hot.
And they are BOS, so the hubris is essential.
Much of the bad writing is because they re-purposed some of the scrip that was about other things.

I agree that the story line is less than even Bethesda standard. But I thought the comment was on the dialog, not the story.

likely on both. if that's your jam then go for it.

I've played some more of this.
not bad, but like most mods, it assumes you are a BOS fan-boi. It also assumes you didn't murder Danse, Haylen and Rhys along with the entire Rail Road Headquarters at the beginning of the game.
I had an issue with personal regrets over my last play through, started over and forgot if I killed everyone yet.
Well, yeah. No Minute Men, Rail Road all dead, BOS all dead. But you got this one quest about taking over the BOS... well, I went back to the Cambridge Police station and Scribe Haylen returned to life. Rhys was gone off doing that thing. Danse was still laying on the ground, not moving, but you could talk to him.
I couldn't remember if I had murdered the RR so I went back with the kid companion Owne to check. Found a third kid named Peter. His dad was Deacon, and he explained how his mother died. (I recall something about Deacon being a gang member that killed a synth, ended up married to a synth...). Peter said his dad hadn't done anything with him lately.
Well, that was right as his dead body was just outside the door.

Thinking of starting my own Cub Scout Den, what with Owen, Peter and Synth Shaun.

Now I'm stuck on some stupid quest were I'm lost in a maze. I hate mazes with a white hot passion.

LOL, sounds like you needed depravity instead Xenon. In that save anyway!

No MM, RR dead and BoS dead? Yeah, you needed the evil one, not the good boy one :steammocking:

I didn't like depravity. You help a girl out by going shopping with her and you end up murdering her parents. Who didn't see that coming. I mean, too much like real life.
