Railroad quests are makin me go insane
So I've started to replay Fallout 4 from the start modded to replicate a EFT/Stalker vibe and decided to side with the Railroad (which i never have before) and one of the quest got me really confused, the Randolph safehouse #4 has you going to a place in Far Harbor which is a DLC location, does that mean the quest was made after Far Harbor or before? If before then where did it take you?

I mean it's no big deal it just got me thinking is all, since these railroad "quests" seem to be a way to get the player to explore the map a bit, I just didn't expect it to tell you to go over to Far Harbor just to clear out an area lol.

Most of us use a mod called Keep Radiant Quests in the Commonwealth
Install it, Load a save from before you entered the HQ to get the quest from Drummer Boy and you should be good to go.

it's a "radiant" quest. Ie, not a fixed location, and can be anywhere in the game including DLC's and even ones from mods.

The mod mentioned above fixes it so that they don't spawn in places outside of the commonwealth (so no far harbour, Nuka World, or mod locations again)

I don't follow? Usely to access Far Harbour u have to travel "right off the map" and there's no "quest" as such for Far Harbour, you need to be outside the house.

Seems to me that being "shown" were u have to goto access Far Harbour is far better then hoping u can be bothered to trudge that far, find a house and hear a argument.

BTW BOS Quartermaster quest's send you there, even if u haven't been there.

Usual BGS stuff. Institute can send you to goose chase to Nuka World.

Mod that JDaermo mentioned. I have installed similar mod for Skyrim, so I don't need to run back and fort Solstheim for some loose iron bars.

BoS will send you to Far Harbor in the radiant "clean this area" quests.
But RR are just Raider Scum.

Yep I get those too, very annoying when you have not been there in the playthrough (I could understand if you had been there and unlocked it as such).

My guess is, with the DLCs they just added those new locations to the pool of potential radiant quest targets.
AFAIR, none of those radiant quests ever directly mentions the location in dialog. It's just a text message in the vein of "Kill enemy type X at location Y".

When you get those quests for DLC's just stop in vanilla, providing you have ballistic weave with the RR, Bos is the same just stop doing them, as not essential anyway. The Bos ones used to be a way to get extra xp before DLC's as you could do them continuously. Otherwise its mod and use suggested.

The last one I got didn't even mention the location in the text message, and just told me to (approximately) "Clear hostiles at " with the location left blank. I had to visit the Far Harbour worldspace before I could see where the map marker was pointing to have any idea of what I was facing. :steammocking:

For dialogue I believe they skip location names in radiant missions because it saves having to record unique dialogue bits for every place. It's all "I'll mark it on your map." or whatever is the equivalent phrase for each questgiver.

Randolph Safehouse at least has a definite endpoint, as do the Weathervane quests to place MILA units for surveillance (6 quests for Randolph, 9 or 10 for Weathervane).
