General FPS and GPU/CPU utilization question

Does anyone else get 90+% GPU utilization while only 5% CPU utilization? I get consistent 60 fps like this but i feel its a little weird to have such low CPU usage. Was wondering if anyone else had this problem or even if it was one.

It depends on your hardware. This game will behave differently on every computer.

You need to learn how pc's work and what % loads actually mean. It's not difficult.

If your gpu is at 90% load then it is probably bottlenecking your pc. So the cpu doesn't need to run fast.

But if you have the fps capped and you are running at the cap, then the 90% just means that the gpu is at close to maximum performance. The cap is the bottleneck.

If the cpu was not bottlenecked by the gpu, fps cap, vsync etc then as FO4 has only 3 main threads of code, then the % load is unlikely to be high in a modern pc which has many cpu threads. So a % cpu load doesn't mean that much.

I was just wondering what was happening because ive never had a game be 99% GPU 1% CPU like that before. that kinda clears it up tho thanks.

I have what I by now would consider an older system, 6700k & 1660ti, and I've never seen my cpu or gpu over 30% ultilization (average, spikes do happen) when running FO4. But as others have mentioned it'll depend on your actual hardware stats whether it's normal or not, tho my off the hip guess is that your gpu is either dieing, too old or you're choking it on purpose or a mix of those.

it's an absolute nightmare of a port. it should be considered a port quite frankly, because there's obvious lack of love to ring out. journalists won't tell you, cause they're busy. the game is already a headache just playing back actually. there goes the naive expectation of being tought a valuable lesson, when being actually confronted with with a medium that feel like someone just acts out with and channels their hate through it? yes, it's fast food style, but does fast food always mean there's spit on it or chewy parts in it? scrapping an apocalyptic world for xbox components, what a life. not hooked, big trouble... yes, sure lead the way don! oh lord, i've waited 7years to play this actually and it still runs like ♥♥♥♥. in a desperate attempt from me to patch up therapize their love horse, i stumbled upon some big news, big talk about a a big "next gen patch". likely, some of the optimization improvements will be introduced to pc version. it's late, but never not too late, you devils. please, if you read this Todd (Tod is Death in german) do it for the asset contractors and this one nerd you got lifting your success. dignify.

If you waited 7 years to play this and it still runs like ♥♥♥♥, did you also wait 7+ years to upgrade your pc? Even my old pc runs this at 60 fps on max settings.. lol
