Need Kid's Clothing
Long Story Short... I'm using a Mod that allows me to create Synths... all synths come out needing clothes... but I can't find or AddItem Kid's clothes. I've tried everyone available. I get the Weight, and the message xx Added; but no clothes in inventory. Note... I am playing F04VR.

Any ideas as to Why this is happening... or more importantly... how to fix it.

Advanced Thanx

This will help a lot. I don't know how it interacts with VR, however, like most of the mods are not intended specifically for it and may get weird.

Adds numerous items in addition to the kids wandering around.

Also if you look up Spiff's Wasteland Clothing Pack that MIGHT be where I have other stuff that can be created at its own work bench but it's been removed and only found on a reddit thread media link. so be careful with what you're clicking.

Since the children's clothing cannot be stolen from them nor traded normally, have you tried using

openactorcontainer 1

while clicked on them? If you have other kids clothes you can swap them out in that container as it acts as a trade window.

Stop trying to make this sound Pervy. There are Children in the Future, Deal with it.

When you added clothes to the kids, did you specifically use kids clothes such as those found here?: https://fallout.fandom.com/wiki/Fallout_4_armor_and_clothing#Child_apparel

I would recommend using equipitem rather than additem if you're intending to dress them anyway, as it should create the item if they don't have one already and will avoid the possibility of leaving an unequipped set of clothing invisibly present in their inventory.

Yeah, you'll have to use a mod like the aforementioned Orphans of the Commonwealth.

Simply using console commands with the vanilla kids outfits won't work. They will initially equip the outfits, but will revert back to their default attire every time you leave and re-enter the cell.

The problem is that I have no kids' clothes. The Mod that creates Synths creates them in their underwear... with adults I can trade items and clothe them. But I don't have access to kid's clothes. When I use the console on any kid's clothes (Dress, Shirt & Jeans, even Nat's dress) nothing shows up in my inventory. I get the message; X has been added... and I get an Inventory weight increase... but no clothes.

@Fang... I don't know if it was that site... but it was a FO4 Wiki which listed the codes for all children clothing. As well I received the message {I.e. Kid's Dress added)

@Doug... I'll give that a shot... but it's tricky trying to select someone in VR... but if I manage it would I type [ EquipItem {ItemID} ] ?

Otherwise, I haven't tried the Mod Zek suggested, yet... but hopefully that will resolve this issue for me.

Ack... that's not good. I've been avoiding Mods that use SKE... and that sounds like a Mod that would use it. But I'll find out for sure, if these other methods don't work. But good information ... I'll be more prepared if that happens. Thanx Mate.

No problem. I did the same thing on RPs that had children at their settlements. I tried to use the equip command on both Synth Shaun and other random child settlers and they first equip the child items you command equip on them, but once you fast travel away and leave the cell, and then come back, they always revert to their vanilla attire.

On my BoS RP I tried to make Syth Shaun a a Squire with the Squire uniform. It reverted after leaving the area and coming back. Same thing on my grandchildren that I tried to equip with the street urchin rags on my Hunter/Trapper Far Harbor RP. Same problem, always reverted once you leave the area cell and come back.

You made it sound that way and with the ToxVax going as it is, there might not be any in the future.

Settlement Menu Manager is the only thing required for most mods, and none of the ones I've ever used (or would link) appears to use SKE.

Getting the message "added" is completely different from "equipped". As another post mentioned, you want to use "equipitem", not "additem". AddItem adds the item to the inventory of the target. EquipItem equips an item to the target, automatically adding it to their inventory if they do not have one. You don't need to have any yourself, just target the child and "equipitem <refID>". Alternatively, and to be more safe, use the format "<child ID>.equipitem <refID>" to prevent accidentally equipping the wrong target or even yourself.

That aside, I'm assuming you're using Workshop Synth Production to achieve this? If so, please keep in mind that the mod is notorious for some rather critical bugs, culminating in Synths eventually turning permanently invisible and clashing with F4SE even after the conflict was supposedly fixed.

It won't work regardless, every time you leave the cell the children will revert back to their default attire without mods. I tested this a lot, I know. There's something in the programming and code that reverts the vanilla child outfits (child settlers, named children, etc.) regardless.

You'll have to use a mod, or use console commands to bring children that are already equipped with the attire you desire to your settlement.

I had to use the same console command procedure to move the two children siblings from Sommerville Place to my Far Harbor fisherman's wharf settlement on Longfellow's Island in order to make them my grandchildren. They retained their rags and are copacetic on their chalk drawing and fire hand warming settlement activity markers. They even use the child beds I crafted for them from another mod.

Without mods, children with console commands are very ornery and capricious. But they can be corralled.
