Make sure you use the powered doors to keep everyone else out of the arena.
I haven't been able to play much with it yet, but unless there is a high vantage point for your settlers to shoot from, I'd assume they shouldn't get involved with the fight.
No clue about two death claws fighting...

Nice setup. And yeah lol... First thing I did before anything else was just check every single workshop sub-menu. Just make sure the power connected to the doors are safe. And you might need to use something to switch them on and off to open and close them.
You need a power generator for the cage, the powered door and something to power the sign, trying to tie it all in nicely
edit: got a fresh deathclaw in the cage by sleeping for 5 days, apparently cages can break overtime?
No clue about them breaking over time.
But in order to power your lights, you should have a Power Conduit (and I think Pylon, too) nearby within like 5-10 meter radius?
Keeping a deathclaw is a problem! I have one trapped, I then slept for 3 days, went outside and there were two deathclaws running around the settlement and another 3 of them outside! The one in the cage remained but they were everywhere!!
And also, as a bug - one of the settlers would not leave the deathclaw in the cage alone - she kept trying to get in the arena to kill it despite it being locked up...

Hahahahaha
Well, here is the in-game notice when you place a cage (and arena platform) if you missed it.

Your settlement will get an increased attack rate while you have things caged.
And if you want the settlers to stop reacting to the arena animals, then you need to use that beta emitter or whatever to pacify the creatures.
And then while wandering near Drumlin dinar, who do I find after 72 levels and a crap ton of hours? Yea, ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ kelly. ♥♥♥♥♥.
Yeah, it took me a while to find some of those special npcs.
I am not sure if all the cages are on the same roll for capturing or if they are independant. I slept a few days and caught a deathclaw but not a radscorp. I went to few other fast travel locations and then slept another 14 hours, went back, and got the radscorp.
And just as extra bit of info, the radscorp fought the deathclaw on sight even while both were under beta wave emission. They both added to settlement defense, but obviously, they will just kill each other lol.
Deathclaw resumed his peaceful settlement patrol tho =D
Once you've trapped your creature and are ready to see a fight, switch on the traffic light and assign someone to a red or blue platform. Make sure your beta wave emitter is on. When your fighter arrives at the platform, release the creature and enjoy the fight.
It is ultimately, that simple, with a couple of points to note - the traffic light gets everyone watching and screaming for blood, the beta wave emitter not only keeps aggressive creatures tame but (as a result) also stops NPC's from attacking it. However assigning someone to a platform causes that person and the creature to fight until one is dead. Turning off the emitter, causes a mass free-for-all brawl.
The exception are raiders, gunners and mutants - they are always aggressive and everyone always attacks them (turrets too)... which seems a bit silly and pointless... Also trying to get two NPC's to their platform in the arena before they see each other and run off to fight wherever they are, can be a bit tricky.
The SS is the only b'stard who'll kill a brahmin.
