Shaun: Am I the only one...?
WARNING: End-Game Spoilers ahead! Proceed at your own risk

Am I the only one wholeft Synth Shaun to die? I sacked the Institute with the Minutemen, and I left him behind not because he was a synth but because I just felt that he wasn't my son, but "the next best thing".

I have nothing against Synths who just want to be friendly though... eventhough I destroyed the Railroad... Looks like I've got some making up to do in Far Harbour...

You arent allowed to leave until you speak with the kid. So you had to talk with it and agree/deny it's request before leaving.

Oh yea. With my Brotherhood guy I abandoned little Shaun and blew off old Shaun's head with a combat shotgun.

Denied him as well. I didn't have any intention to survive much longer anyhow, at that point the character was practically an automata :)

I kept him even though i sided with the Brotherhood of Steel. He is not dangerous and cant grow up so when he outgrows his usefulness i will send him to some far away settlement where i never speak to him again.

I did both playing it as with the faction I was playing at the time, killed him in front of the BoS before we left the Institute. Took him with me with the Railroad when we left the Institute. He's now in Sanctuary with Drinking Buddy making mods for me.

I think he can grow up. I think that's his whole deal. He's like Pinocchio, a "real boy".

In my BOS ending I left him behind. If the big synth is not allowed to stay why would they accept the little synth?

Ditto. My Brotherhood-playthru toon was a synth hater.

I kept him, but only for the reason that I [my character] couldn't go on knowing I had a hand in killing the innocent person who thought he was my son.

That's fair enough, I just felt the opposite, because I felt that my character was appalled, angry and upset by what the real Shaun had done, causing him to leave him behind

I feel that my character represents a more violent side to the Minutemen, as a kind of balance to what Preston believes that they are.

That makes sense. My main playthrough, I played for myself and didn't roleplay. But I can see how if another person had and gave themself Brotherhood ideals, then the act of keeping a Synth alive would be appalling.

I just left the damn kid. I find it sick for the insitute or Shaun himself to let the synth Shaun be mine. Wife avenged. The only family member alive is Me and Codsworth the true ones.

I don't entirely agree with the Brotherhood's ideals, I really just used them for their resources. I don't think that they should kill everyone who's not them just for the sake of it. From a roleplay perspective, I guess the real reason why I chose to leave Shaun was because I wanted to forget the past, keeping synth Shaun alive wouldve reminded me of the real one.
