TBH, the most common issues I see causing this are mirrored saves using Steam Cloud (Game Properties > Updates > Steam Cloud), Dropbox, a/o Onedrive (or other cloud duplicating storage services).
C:\Users\Michael\Documents\My Games\Fallout4\Saves
It could happen. =P
Not heard of that one, but given the other known issues, it may well cause a game crash (really sloppy programming if so).
I just reloaded a previous save and all is well for the most part.
I did a 'verify integrity of game cashe and got one file corrupted and reaquired, but when I started the game and tried to save after a fast travel the problem was still there.
Doing a verify again now, if that doesn't fix it, then I guess it's switching-off-mods-time and test that stuff.
**Update: the verify gave no problems, tested saving again, same crash problem.
Then opened my Nexus Mod Manager and disabled the last mod I installed, which was 'DogMetal (Dog Robots) and tested again: problem solved.
The DogMetal mod was very promising but didn't work properly in the first place, I did however got it working but it seems eventually it crashes the game on saving.
Too bad, I really liked my RoboDogMeat. Back to the living one which makes too much noice but has a cute face.
Mine solved its self, I reloaded an older save before it happened. and it has not happened since. I guess the save file got corrupted...
If you run into this problem, try uninstalling or re-installing the last mod that's making your game crash.
couple of years late but this literally happened to me. bethesda plz
♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ amazing job bethesda
Today i saw that fallout (with f4se) change "read only" while running.
That devil fight back!
I've tried to save, and it crashed. Rechecked the folder, it's again "read only" but only for the files - so I guess new files can be added in it?
If i go back a few saves i am able to save... once, upon reloading the resent save, the problem reappears.
No change in mods or load order, from last working save.
Tried most of the fixes not involving the ini's.
