Taking Over the castle too early

So after I completed the story line with the brotherhood I decide to do some Minutemen quests to take over the castle, but it never cam so I took the castle over early now the eggs won't disappear and Preston is stuck on the same discussion.(P.S. I'm playin this on Xbox so o can't use commands)

Wiki info on The Castle says that if you take the Castle without doing the Minutemen quest, the eggs or mess created by smashed eggs will remain behind.

Also you need to have around 4 settlements in order for Preston to have given you that quest originally so if you didn't have them it's probably why he never offered it to you.

What's Preston saying exactly?

He's complaining on how I killed everyone in the institute. And I have way more then 4 settlements.

Seems like you can't take the Castle then because you've completed the main storyline and destroyed the Institute already using the Brotherhood. The Castle is important for the Minutemen main questline as that's where the Minutemen have to defend an attack by the Institute later on . I'm not sure you can gain it as a settlement at this stage now. Maybe others will know.

I forget where I found the thread, but there used to be one covering major decision points in the game. Time to practice some google-fu and dig out some old saves (or start over)...
