DLC - custom bots dont heal after combat ?
Hi. so I played with all of the original companions, so I know when cogsworth gets clobbered, after thr fight he will be back up. And even when Ada gets clobbered, after the fight she will be back.

But, when I made a custom bots, (note - I did NOT modify Ada, I created a brand new bot), when it goes down, it stays down, even 20 minutes after a battle (I waited) until I used a "robot repair" mechanical-stim-pack thing.

On one hand, it's more realistic. but considering how dumb the companions were, I felt their self-repairs were justified. I have a number of these robot-repair sticks, but if I have to spend one after every couple of fights, I'm gonna run out fast.

so, what's the deal - does anyone know?

is it only the special named companions who can regenerate / auto repair? but any other robots are limited?

I guess that's a major factor, I wanted a bot that could tank for me, at least for the first half of a fight. after I killed a few, and there's not so many bad guys, its ok if my bot goes down eventually. but it won't be worth the trouble if I need to burn a repair stick constantly.

I guess I'll go and try modifying Ada with the same layout, and she if she's any different from my P1X13 bot

Thanks!

They don't have a restore condition script after combat, only named npc's do for some reason, mostly companions.
However, they will sometimes for some reason

k thanks. its getting late, but this week i'll try Ada out, with the same mods as my old pixie bot, and see how she does. in theory if she auto-repairs, then that will save me the repair kits for when i really need em

Odd, my Automatrons always restored after combat. Which is handy because I can't repair them unless they're "unconcious."

It wasn't until survival that they didn't, which is intentional.

I had thought they were restoring, but last night mine definately wasn't. so my theory was maybe it was the named bots vs the custom bots. I dunno, I'll try it real soon now and update the thread with my result

O geeze.. I just made a Provisioner out of a custom bot. I hope i don't find him engulfed in flames on the roadside.

If that is the case, I'll be modding that crap out. I don't want to spend my whole game sessions doing robot repair or, not using them.

well, I can't tell you what happens to provisioner-bots. I do know my human-provisioners have tanked Super Mutant Suiciders point-blank, and then dusted themselves off afterwards. (you should see them when they walk near some of the mutants outside in town, sort of near Fallons)

But my "new automatron" P1X13 bot, this past weekend, was not auto-repairing after battle, when the [hidden] thing reappeared. even after long waits. only when I used a repair kit. I probably used about 8-10 repair kits this weekend.

Tonight, I used the same bot config, but it was a modified Ada. when Ada went down from tanking the behemoth, she got right back up after the battle ended.

also, last week, I had been using an un-modified ada. she would get clobbered, and auto repair after battle with no need for me to interfere.

so, there does seem to be something special about the named npcs. cogsworth, curie, and ada are probably all going to self-repar at the end of a fight.

anyways, i hope this info helps someone. have fun + good luck ! :bandit:

ps. I play on the "normal" difficulty. so if somethings different on Hard Mode ++, then your milage may vary...

provisioners are protected/invincible. all settlers are in vanilla, the only thing that can kill them, is the player. I assume robo-provisioners get the same treatment, but honestly I havn't followed them around to see. I also havn't had any supply routes stop working, so they probably get the same scripts.

Regeneration torso mod heals you and your robots.

Very useful for unstable guns, as they come back after they are destroyed in a fight.

I pick up at least 2-3 in every robot fight, think I have about 30 of them already so while I understand you're not always fighting robots, you should be pretty well off.

Though I haven't seen anyone selling robot repair kits (but I really haven't been looking for them) so possibly you could also buy more.

Me, I just kitted Ada, out of all my companions, I like her the most... and I really don't like companions... I prefer stealth and they're just useless at that.

i can confirm that provisioner bots are both essential and protected (they stand back up after combat is over) so you are safe

here is the rest of vital info:

Custom bots that are in your settlement but arent your companions CAN BE DESTROYED BY ENEMIES - so keep that in mind when building bots to protect your settlement they arent essential anymore unless you have them as companion then they are essential again but they dont heal after combat you need to have some robot repair kits handy or else they will remain dormant in last location they were damaged forever

I had two robots on my current char, they got injured and I was out of repairkits, so they leave for the settlement, when I get there I get there they lay dead behind the house in sanctuary...

Now I had made Curie in to a super killer, I love to make the melee robots based on the assaultron platform, give them a blade and a construction claw, will be insanely brutal... :D

Love how she says, something along "Why does it have to be such violence, why cant people be kind.." I dont remeber what she say.... xD and she says that while pushing down a gunner dude, and while he lay on his back she stab him 15 times until he turn in to paste lol xD awesome!

Like I said, my robots ended up in my settlement and then became dead when I left them.... O_o I now use Curie made in to a kick ass killer machine, I have noticed tho she suck at fighting back, I had another custom robot built like her before and that one was mean as f***, killed anything super fast, even behemoths! :O Its weird.
