Your settlers won't knock it over, neither will you (since you can't pick it up using the E key) and it will stay put. You can move it afterwards by going into Workshop mode like any other piece of furniture.
Off course. I should have thought of that. Drop then pick up in build mode.
I want a pool table for the games room. Someone had one in a video I watched. How could I acquire one?
pool table should be in the tables category. honestly, you're better off doing what others have suggested - use the OCDecorator mod. the game engine loads in smaller objects before larger ones, which is why half your placed items will end up on the floor, in the ground and anywhere else you can imagine. either the bots will knock it all over or half of it will go missing. i still don't understand why bethesda give you the vanilla option to build shelves that you effectively can't put anything on.
OCDecorator gives you a prebuilt selection of objects to place, and also a "dispenser" which lets you duplicate and copy any ingame object that you can pick up which isn't on their default list. so you can put down shelves and place pieces of power armour, for example. oh, OCDecorator also lets you build a deathclaw hand trophy which looks a bit more impressive than a brahmin.
the room on my right on fast travelling to Fort Hagen. Are the balls now likely to fall through the table? Holding thumbs.
eventually you'll walk into town and find it all over the place. it's not guaranteed but it is very likely, especially if you fast travel into a settlement.
i have some example shots in screens from what you can do with an hour or so of messing about with ocdecorator http://steamcommunity.com/id/paperghost/screenshots/?appid=377160&sort=newestfirst&browsefilter=myfiles&view=imagewall
it opens out the building aspect of the game so much, comes highly recommended from me (alongside the mod which lets you place weapons on wall mounted boards!)
1. Only setup a display in a settlement that has No settlers! Settlers will knock your displays down and steal things from them. My displays are on Spectacle island where happiness starts at 50% and stays that way even without setting up defences or planting crops. Just don't setup a beacon or send settlers there. FYI; If you don't plant crops your settlement will Never get attacked.
2. Once you start displaying items you MUST ONLY fast travel from and back to your settlement!!! Each settlement is made up of several cells that must all load at the same time inorder for you displays to remain intact. When you fast travel out and back in the loading screen allows all the cells to load before the settlement renders. When you walk out and back in the cells do not all load at the same time causing your display to end up looking like you set off a mini nuke in your home.
3. Now, drop up to 20 items on the ground, menu save, not quicksave. Load that save then place your items where you want them by highlighting them and holding E to pick them up. You can rotate the axis of the item you want to place with left and right mouse. You can change what axis they rotate on by tapping L-shift while holding the item when you are standing still. All items can be placed in the exact position you want them in. And when placing items hit caps lock to walk with the item or your item may fly across the room if you don't walk. Once you get your 20 or so items placed menu save again and load that save. **When displaying things you Can overwrite your saves with no ill affects.**
4. There are a few items that you may have to place twice for them to stay put. The robot models are a good example of that. After placing them, saving and loading that save they may still fall through the table or shelf you have them on once you fast travel from and back to your settlement. If that happens just put them back and save and load after you do. Then they will stay put even after fast travelling.
5. Remember to Never walk to or from the settlement your display is in!!!! I have placed well over 2,000 items on Spectacle island and all but a very few stay exactly where I placed them. The few that don't I just place back where they were and they usually stay put the second time. It's almost like you have to get them Locked into or Burned into your save files by saving a few times after placing the finicky items.
Have fun collecting and setting up your display, I know I do. :)
Edit; LOL, Jangles is a pain to place due to it's ragdoll affect!!!!!
Excellent job great help
and will monitor, checking daily on all items. Currently the settlers are only using my beds and chairs.
i kinda feel like i'm trying to get you to sign up to the dark side or something ;) the building mods really do open everything up in amazing ways, but having said that half of them are already going to need major work when survival comes out of beta so it may be worth waiting a few weeks at least for fixes to be applied.
