Automatron Name Bug, Possible Fix(?)
So I noticed when playing that my new automatron also got the name 'automatron' and did what everyone else did, and tried to change it, google it, and find why it is happening, and I have discovered something. First off, sorry if people already know this, but I couldn't find info about it so here it is.

First off, it isn't really a glitch. The first time you talk to your new automatron, it will ask you to activate its personality sub-routine. If you choose no, it's name will become automatron, however picking yes will give it the name you chose. To confirm this, I talked to one of mine that I called "stealth-Zap", one of the only ones that could talk, and when he was following me, I selected talk, and then disable personality subroutine, and the name quickly changed to 'Automatron'. By this, we can see it was actually programmed in to do this, but no idea why.

When talking to Automatron, however, I would ask to activate his personality, however it instead said there was an error. I am unsure on how to stop this from happening though, and for your robot to actually accept their personality subroutine. If anyone else has information on this, it will be greatly appreciated.

I have the same problem. Do you use Mods because I think it is a mod you are using.

The bug seems to occur when you interact with Kellogg's computer after killing him during the quest Reunions up to Dangerous Minds. Once Dangerous Minds have been completed one can rename and team up with the automatrons without them being renamed... Automatron. So be sure when you play a new game or reload a save before Kellogg's terminal usage that you don't interact in any way with your automatrons until you've completed Dangerous Minds. Hope that helps! :AffinitySupremacy:

NEW FIX FOUND:

If it cannot be fixed for you by completing Reunions/Dangerous Minds etc... then I found another solution that should help.

It has to do with you having "Neon Flats" installed. This is Creation Club content. This content comes with a quest and a new apartment. You must complete that corresponding quest called "Neon Winter".

Once you have completed "Neon Winter", every robot you craft from there on, should not have that name reset/disappearing issue anymore. It definitely worked for me after testing it intensively.

Hope it works for you too... Please let me know if it helped :)
