Yes "the raiders killed him" "you settlers saw that right"?
The settlers didn't bat an eyelid at Arlen's death and went back to their tarberries.
I did read on Wiki though that Arlen usually dies if The Slog is attacked. Obviously he should have spent more time at defence classes than working on those Giddy Ups.
The rest of the ghouls are useless. And to be honest after trying to build there, it's not worth it, there are invisible NPC markers that will ruin anything you'll do if you want a settlement filled with settlers moving around.
My Slog generates income of food, water, junk and caps. Built it up and added many things at different times it works well. I have 6 or 7 ghouls who wont use beds so assign to guard duty. Some settlements have problems but it can be fun to find purpose for them. For example Croup Manor settlers never use beds so I moved all them out and replaced with robots no longer need beds.
(who ever found that trick initially, wow, you rock! now just need ot check every settlment for where the "sweet spot" is)
do this for EVERY settlement, so far only Tenpines BLuff seems not to have a "sweet spot" where turrets spawn at higher level :/
bunch of MK5 and 7 turrets wil SLAUGHTER damn near anything :P
Each time I died I had to fast travel back there again.
On reflection, I think my problem could stem from the fact that I never bring up my inventory during a fight which I think stops the game play. I use the quick slot to use a stimpak and the game continues while I am injecting myself. Tomorrow I will run like hell away from the Slog then stealth back and lay mines, which I have never used before, and get the mutants to come charging at me. If this does not work I will fast travel there in one of my five power armors. Even rocket launchers did not help me before.
The Slog and Finch Farm deserve unusually heavy defenses -- numerous missile towers and heavy lasers -- because the neighborhood is unusually rough.
hate missile turrets because they destory your own turrets, pump etc!!
onlyw ya ot use them relaly is to put them in a position where they cannot fire into your settlement
Excuse my ignorance but how does one place a fast travel marker?
