Can you post a screenshot? I might just be a buggy sign, could try moving some letters around while powered to see if it 'comes alive'.
No need to do that though, didn't realize you were using fluorescents on a matinee and apparently the matinee doesn't provide any 'ambient power', which you fixed with the pylon. Could also fix that with a side-mount connector on the back of the sign, I bet.
Floating light... one of yours or is that a candle or something that was on top of furniture you scrapped? I can't really make out the issue in that screenshot. if it's a 'leftover' then you can:
1 - enter console mode
2 - click on the light (an ID code should appear mid-screen)
3 - type 'disable'
4 - if the light and *only* the light disappeared, good. If nothing happened or anything else went away, type 'enable'.
5 - if the results in #4 were good, type 'markfordelete'
6 - click elsewhere until there's no code showing before leaving console mode, just to be safe.
