If those are things that are important to you - then Survival is not for you.
Its for those who want to further immerse themselves in this world, its not a difficulty gate that you have to pass through to get more lootz.
If you're in the game for killing raiders then there's no point to Survival - it just slows down your ability to kill raiders and get Legendary Loot.
I believe it actually further increases the damage for both the player and the enemies by an additional 50%. In Very Hard mode, the player does 0.5x damage and I think the enemies do 2x damage. With the additional Survival Mode modifier, the player ends up doing 0.75x damage and the enemies end up doing 3x damage.
So in enemies in Survival Mode will do more damage than they do in any other difficulty setting, while the player will be doing the same amount of damage they would normally inflict in the "Hard" difficulty setting (before modifiers from Adrenaline).
yes. it's that simple.
I thought it was 0.5x to NPC and 2x to player for both difficulties. The bigger difference lies mainly with legendary spawn rates, healing item effectiveness and of course the NV like settings. (At least since the May update).
I don't really mind if its more difficult, since I've played and loved Fallout New Vegas hardcore mode, and played Fallout 3 with FWE. But to play without any extra goodies is not so great, especially since I can't even fast travel, quicksave, and its harder to discover new places, which translate to slower progress.
Oh and get the "War for the commonwealth" mod (or how it´s called) It´s like another game to me. Was really exciting to bring that epic behemoth down with my little 5 settlers settlement ( i am trying to find more oil and stuff to further fortify my little settlement...)
Oh perhaps some vertibird mods, so you don´t have to run everywhere on foot, otheriwse it´s sometimes annoying i give you that;)
You certainly don't get a better class of enemy or better drops.
There is no special super BFG or anything for playing in Survival; if that's the kind of benefit you're looking for, there's not really any point.
But if you want to feel like the game world is just a little bit more realistic, than that's what Survival is for.
This seems like an extremely closed-minded and ignorant view of mods in general.
You are aware that many of us playing Survival w/ mods are playing a MUCH HARDER game than you ever will if you keep it vanilla, no?
/shrug
It is, technically. But from what I understand they then layered an additional hidden modifier that further increased the default damage multipliers by another +50%, which is why it ends up being a net multiplier of 0.75x and 3x respectively. That hidden modifier is apparently what Bethesda is referring to when they say that everyone does more damage in Survival Mode - but the "more damage" is relative, because it was layered on top of pre-existing multipliers that were in the "Old" Survival difficulty.
They might have changed it in one of the more recent patches, but that's how it was during the Open Beta and the first few weeks after release (at least according to the various people who were patient enough to dig through the code, or run exhaustive tests - I just take them at their word).
