Mac's Bar

[Defektiv]

I keep seeing his bar popping up in random places but never him. I'm assuming he's getting himself killed but do his empty bars end up despawning? They spawn in place of other random junk spawns that are normally part of my salvage runs but I never see them disappear.

He roams from bar to bar, the bars are fixed spawns and he goes between them, i think he's marked essensial and therefore can't die

I wondered what those seemingly random placed Bars were, never seen this Tom NPC though in many many game hours.

He's hard to track down.
Most of his bars are in off track locations and he is very rarely at them.
On occasions I have found him on the road, where he's talked and sold me things like he was at the bar he is going to.
Other times i've found NPCs around the bar, but Tom has been absent

I got his name wrong, its Mac I guess. I think? Wiki says he can die.

Did me too, maybe Tinker Tom. idk but every time I see the bar I think Tom for some reason.

Eitherway, aside from the non essensial thing, I'm pretty sure thats how he works.
I've met him maybe 2-3 times over the course of 500 or so hours. Mostly in the early game because
A) He's most likely alive and not dead in a bush somewhere, never to be found again
and
B) A lot of his bars seem to be around Malden/Lexington

I just stumbled across Mac's unattended bar (and yeah, his name is Mac) in the middle of an intersection when I was going from the BADTFL office to Kendall Hospital for the RR Butcher Bill quest. That's Cambridge area. But yeah, I was wondering about that. I have only found Mac once in any of my playthroughs before--and I have just over 400 hours--and so finding his bar without him was quite an oddity for me. I'm assuming Mac himself is dead in this playthrough, as he was nowhere to be found.

In the playthrough where I did find him, he and his bar were just south of Sanctuary, near the border of the map just past that tower where a group of 4 raiders will spawn, west of Abernathy Farm and across the river. I uploaded this screenshot it because at the time I had no idea who he was suppose to be. Just seemed so weird to find some dude tending a bar at the edge of the map.

Maybe it's worth noting that in both playthroughs I was under level 20 when I found his bar.

Mac. 2nd time I went he was there, small trader inventory, restricted opening hours. I bought beer he does have dialogue lines.
he said his great plan was to set up in place where no other bars are, therefore he will get all the customers. other nutty theories like that he has.

I just hope since he is clearly dead somewhere in my current save that these empty bars don't continue to pop up and eventually take over all the exterior random loot spawn locations so all I have is a map full of empty bars.
