The Big guns really gets saved by the harpoon gun for general use
Unlike the horribly underpowered junk jet or the minigun using obscene amounts of costly ammo. Getting ahold of the harpoon gun is blissful redemption. Especially when you can mod it to fletchette harpoons and use it at short ranges for galactic levels of damage with the instigating harpoon gun you can buy in far harbor.

With fletchettes, you will never run out of ammo now, as you get way more harpoons back than you expend. Though you really want to have quick hands to shorten the reload time!

Uhh Gatling laser is pretty damn boss.
Pretty much worthless against enemies with a high energy resistance, but it's still a great gun

There's a handful of enemies that have an Energy Resistance high enough to matter. For those I use my Power Hammer (since I have melee as a 2nd) or a missile launcher my +50% dmg to animals Missile Launcher in particular is awesome in Far Harbour. On Very Hard it takes 3 missiles to down a Mirelurk Queen at lvl65 or so.

Nothing compares against gulpers, i know they share the same skeleton, animations, and energy resistance as deathclaws but using energy weapons against them is a death sentence.

Energy weapons can't really be that bad against them can they?

I've been bringing down Gulpers (and most other things in FH) down with a non legendary .38 automatic pipe gun on survival, granted, thats using it for ninja 3 boosted sniping, but still....
I'm quite tempted to grab a laser gun to play around with now, but I expect it'll eat things quite readily.

Harpoon, I sold mine, (Defender's Harpoon Gun) not impressed. Prefer the Railway Rifle.

Missile launchers are only good in that difficulty. But completely garbage in survival. 100 pounds just to carry it along with few missiles and has the same power of a frag grenade that weigh 0.5p each (unless using both big guns+demo expert), heck even fatman is more worth carrying along with few nukes because it kicks harder

btw what's the energy resistance of enemies in FH? is it a lot higher than ballistic res? I went there with Gatling alone and it took me 500 bullets to take down a legendary angler lol

Also the harpoon with instigating doesn't seem to affect all the flechettes you fire...The damage with flechettes is way lower than barbed harpoon at the same range and body part.

So it's more like a sneak-big gun for me... While explosive harpoon with flechettes must be op instead but the chance for that to drop is.......let's not talk about it.

harpoon gun is useless for me at level 90

slow reloads and crap damage compared to the badguys i fight at level 90 on very hard mode

Its a minigun. Its meant to consume a ♥♥♥♥ ton of ammo. lol.

Not when the weapon itself hits like a BB gun
its just waste of ammo better to just sell 5mm or get explosive minigun rather than use normal minigun
