Grenades
Do grenades deal ballistic/energy damage or explsoive/emp?

Are pulse grenades better against robots than frag grenades?

How useful are plasma grenades and nuka grenades?

I don't really understand the first question, different grenades do different damage types, it tells you in the pipboy which ones they do.

I don't think that pulse grenades do any extra damage to robots like they used to, I tried using them for Automatron but they didn't seem very useful, they just do energy damage.

Plasma grenades deal a lot of damage but in my experience if they land behind a tiny object the blast gets blocked, so most of time i wasn't damaging anything with them. maybe others have had better luck however. Nuka grenades are by far the most powerful grenade, almost like a mini nuke grenade, big damage, big aoe also. I love using them but they are very rare and are the only grenade that cannot be crafted.

Damage type is per grenade description. Plasma is obviously energy and fragmentation is ballistic.

Pulse grenades have only one redeeming feature: you can use them without problems in tight quarters, like in the Nucleus command center. Their damage is otherwise disappointing.

Plasma and nuka grenades are the final word in explosives, nuka dealing over 700 damage. If you have taken the explosives perk to level 4, the area is also dangerously large (I have nuked myself several times). There is a mod that allows to craft nuka grenades out of quantum colas. I have found about 30 of them, so it is not that much, but it gives a little extra fun.

With the perk maxxed out, frag grenades stay useful, and you can hoard the plasmas and nukas for special occasions. Incendiaries lose much of their charm very soon, but you can still use them to torch mirelurk egg clutches or wipe out batches of ghouls.
