Never Ending Weapon
So I found a Combat Rifle with the legendary perk of "Never Ending" meaning that it has unlimited ammo. Thats good and all, but why doesn't it give unlimited ammo for my companion?

Never Ending means you never have to reload, it does not mean unlimited ammo.

Yes It means you don't have to reload the weapon. I think there is not a weapon in the game with unlimited ammo

Read the description better.

"Unlimited ammo capacity"

That third word there, Capacity, changes the meaning/context of the first two words.

They do run out of ammo, though. That's literally what this thread is about. <.<

Yeah not sure that never ending weapons are even that effective for companions. Even if it works for them and they don't have to reload, I feel like they never run into situations where never reloading would actually benefit them.

Even for the PC it's a bit iffy if you want to use them or not. They don't improve damage output in most cases, and it's not often that I need larger magazine capacities.

What IS nice about them though, is you can (and should) downgrade the magazine size on those weapons to the smallest, lightest choices to reduce weight, which can be useful in it's own way.

Yeah, sorry for not being a native english speaker and not being attentive enough to notice that. What annoys me is that Valentine (who I read is supposed to be a vital companion to bring with you in Far Harbor) keeps chewing through the ammo I give him for the weapons I want him to use, and inevitably reverts back to his crappy pipe-pistol. Which basically makes him the worst possible companion for the expansion, since you can't (as far as I know) change his armor or even attach ballistic weave to his existing armor.

As with most annoyances, there is a mod for that! Unlimited Companion Ammo or something like that.

You clearly have never witnessed the beauty that is a never ending double barreled shotgun.

It depends on the weapon.

Double barrel shotgun that does not reload.
A missle launcher that does not reload.

If used in the right situations the no reload perk would outdo other perks as they would make up for the damage by skipping reload times.
