"Hunt for red death" loads to black screen? (solution found)

Everything loads and runs as normal but there is no graphics? My pipboy shows up and pointers are there and there is dialog but just a black screen,...any fix??

So far the only workaround I know of is to hold the vats key to force it to open, and it will get rid of the black screen. Then you can manually swim to the quest objective, but it will take awhile. It seems that the reason it happens is because when bugged you spawn in the wrong location, and you are too far away from the objective for the screen to go normal like it is supposed to. I had a suspicion it may have been because I discovered (major plot spoiler, not just a location or something)that dima replaced Avery before completing it, and when I tried to go to the ship Avery was standing next to it and forced dialog, but the options were taken up by the dialog relating to what I discovered. I haven't tried it yet since completing that quest to see if that fixes it.

Can confirm, this tip is still useful as of May 2024. Lol I was in power armor so I had to walk across the bottom of the ocean to the island and I actually found a steamer trunk with some decent loot randomly. From were the black screen spawns you and you use vats to break out of it, if you just walk straight to the quest marker, you should find the trunk. Good luck!
