Fatal error, game STUCK in survival...
This is the third time this particular thing has happened...

Basically you will play after resting mind you.... for about 20 to even 2 hours and when you enter vats the game freezes...

The second event was when the mechanist's robots attacked me and it froze while he was attacking me....

It does not write a dump file or anything as it never is able to close itself............... :(

Can anyone point me in a direction that does not involve repeating 40 mins at a time?

My specs:

CPU: 8350 AMD
Video: 280 Radeon
Windows 8 all updates
Video drivers are latest

Actually i have been getting this issue during survival and when it happens i have to restart my pc because it seems to lock up my screen so i can't even access task manager to close the game,

i've looked online for a fix and i haven't yet managed to find one, i'm level 78 on my survival mode run and this has happened to me at least 15 times and it only happens occasionally when i enter VATS, this has only been happening to me tho since patch 1.5 and it's a problem for some not just on PC but on console aswel

Oh I was afraid other people might have that problem. Since the patch is when it started. Lucky not 15 times yet but redoing an hours work each time it happens is not fun.... If it could at least crash that would be nice, so I could view the dump file.

Has anyone had this issue and managed to find where it originates at least?

Any event written in Event Viewer from windows? It most probably won't if it freezes. My first guess would be graphics drivers. Have you tried doing a complete clean install of your GFX drivers with Driver sweeper? Get driver sweeper from 3D Guru. Just type it into Google. Follow the on-screen promps after you have run it, to remove old drivers from safe mode.

Edit: also it my be worth grabbing Driver booster from Iobit. Now it's a handy tool for finding out if you have outdated drivers and can even be used to update them (Never had issue with it). It's free but there is a paid version. Regardless it will atleast tell you which drivers you need updating either through the program or manual.

Don't do your gfx drivers this way. Always use driver sweeper and grab them from nvidia or AMD.

Good info, since today I haven't heard of these programs. Will give them a go and see if the problem is resolved.

Cheers.
