thinking about a FPS commando build out of boredom
I know an automatic gun with explosive mod is the thing to aim for, when you have pumped demolionist for added explosive damage. Spray and pray used to be the go to weapon for that, if not having luck with a random explosive weapon, but the kiloton radium rifle outshines it brutally and still using a plentiful ammo type.

So Im thinking that Steady Aim, Quick Hands, Scrounger, Gun Nut and Demolitionist is the key skills to go for perkwise? Perception is not needed higher than 5, as you dont rely on Vats. But quick hands seems a must as youd be going through lots of reloads due to being a walking bullet fiesta and not wanting to be caught in a tight spot, which requires a hefty investment into agi.

Another good thing for automatic rifle builds are perks to increase caps, automatic weapons burn through ammo, so it's always a good idea to be overstocked on ammo.

That was my intention by taking scrounger. But I concede cap collector has its uses too, plus increasing vendor limits with 500. But what do you say about Quick hands, am i right about it?

Quick hands isn't a must have, but it's definitely useful. Alot of people substitute quick hands with quick eject on guns, but with automatics a quick eject with large drum usually requires a high rank in Gun Nut, not only that but quick hands and quick eject together would make you reload insanely fast.

Hrm, i see, i had forgotten about quick eject large mags.
So far what im contemplating is looking like this:
http://www.levelbased.com/guides/fallout-4/tools/special?build=77.6.4.3.5.7.2 This is with bobbleheads in mind to reach key skills. Id put the special book in intelect.

But if Quick hands can be ditched, that would free up 5+ points from agi. Ive little interest in settlements, they feel like a waste of time after doing them hard once. So i think the alternative would be dumping them into endurance for the funnier end perks such as cannibal and ghoulish, or int and trying to play around nerd rage and getting more rad damage on the kiloton radium rifle.

Seems like a good build.

would you drop 5 from agi into end or should i just keep going for quick hands?

honestly in the long run it doesnt matter what build you go for, theres no level limit and you can up your special by just using a point, so i just say bollocks to it and go for everything xD

I'd say endurance is better than quick hands in the long run, but Atmos is right, you can always do quick hands later.

i know, but personally i consider level 60-65 to be the realistic endpoint, where you run out of content to do, with only radiant quests left. Only time ive managed over level 100, 125 to be precise, was a game where i focused on settlements and building up every single settlement. Never again, felt like a huge repetitive waste of time, and they kept getting attacked despite having high defense and being forrested with turrets.

my main focus is completion, ive wanted to get everything, and done everything since the game released, unfortunatly more than 8 times ive had to restart because a rogue code gremlin worked its way into my saves and ive had to restart at level 65

just use commando, gun nut to mod it and demo expert if you're going to get the best out of kiloton rifle...quick hands is useless imo, the gun has a 50 mag if i don't mistake and reload itself isn't slow... .45 is plentiful and also cheap from vendors as for scrounger... steady aim is another useless perk, you don't hipfire with an assault rifle...the boost from it isn't even a big deal
