Can't start Far Harbor thread.

I talked to the girl at Valentines, and she tells me to talk to somebody about a missing person. But when I highlight the next step in the quest and press "R" to bring up the location on the map it shows me a location in the far northeast outside the boundries of the map. I tried going there but I get to the edge of the map and I get the "You cannot go that way" boundry limit sign. And the marker is still farther north. So I cannot continue the quest. What is going on here?

You need to find Kellog.

You have to finish the "Getting a Clue" quest. You don't have to go as far as finding Kellog. Just follow dogmeat to the building that he's in. Then when you get near the city you get a notice to listen to your radio for a message from Vallentine's assistant.

I'm experiencing the same thing to not being able to cross the Northern part of the map leading towards the way point. All main quests have been completed up to this point. So i don't see why we're not able to cross thos boundary. Also, yes i have the dlc installed and up to date.

I finished the Kellog quest long ago and I won the game with the Railroad, And I also tried walking along the northern fence with no luck. I now have another quest I started and it too shows the same location in the same place beyond the northeast corner of the map. There is something wrong here! I also tried deleteing the game and redownloading it, but it didn't help.
I'm at level 74 and I really don't want to have to restart a new game. Especially if I can't be sure if that will even work.

I figured out that you can get through by swimming to the far right of where that wooden fence is and you should be able to reach land leading you to start the new quest.

YOu know what I hate? Idiots who think thier opinions matter when in reality not even your own momma cares that you dont like the DLC. DOnt fuc.king play it. Instead go outside and enjoy a nice game of hide and go fu.ck yourself.

Yes, I found that by going north till you hit the boundry, then turn east and just keep walking. That worked. It just kind of blows your mind when you first try it and find the goal outside the map. Thanks for all the feedback.
