Is there a way to lvl up affinity with MacReady quickly?

I tried the old method of stealing something, quicksaving, and quickloading and it doesnt work. It seems to have been patched.
Is this so or am I doing it wrong?

Take the quest from Whitechapel Charlie to clean out the warehouses.
They are full of things to steal and MacReady likes that.

Actually I discovered with Hancock that they changed him up and the load didn't work. But if I waited two hours between actions he would give more affinity.

the earlier on you get and work on mccready the easier it is because the more misc non overall important quests are in the game for you to be a smartass over heh.

i waited to long and did the following :
. cleared out every quest in goodneighbor, went for more gold, choose all sarcastic options, quick saved at every conversation choice just incase i said something he didn't like.
. knocked out several side quests in diamondcity including the diamond radio one and the husband/wife/bar triangle one.
. picked the lock on everyones house in both cities every chance i got. stole everything in the little room above the 'female robot' merchang in goodneighbor. etc.
