Using the console to skip memory puzzles
If you're not in the mood to go through the puzzles, here's an easy way to skip them:

1. Use the console command "tgm" (without quotes) to activate god mode, which allows you to build as many blocks, relays and turrets as you want.

2. Build a bunch of turrets around the path to protect your indexers and fill in any gaps in the path with solid blocks.

3. To get past firewalls, simply pull up the console and click on the individual red blocks. An ID should be displayed, something like "(03047ac8) [EP]". Type "disable" (without quotes) to remove that block from the game. Do this for each block that gets in the way of your indexers.

And that's it. Bypasses the entire 5-puzzle ordeal in around 10 minutes.

I am not big on puzzles expet for logic puzzels, and they are not logic puzzles. You will missout on a few items, but save up caps. The ledgendary versions of everything but the wetsuit is else were mostly for purchase. You can craft up the full set and it still will be sub par to the ledgendary set. The wetsuit though. IDK. I take aquaboy for survial mode so not a big deal.

Yep puzzle 4 and 5 aren't really needed, cause I have the aqua girl perk, and also my Heavy Metal Armor has better protection then the marine combat armor.

It's fine that you don't like puzzles. I like SOME kinds of puzzles. At its core, a puzzle should engage your brain, regardless of what kind of puzzle -- that engagement can involve mathematics, logic, word play, spelling, even spatial relations. Those are all puzzles. This was mostly not even a puzzle -- it was not in any way intellectually engaging. Even a jigsaw puzzle would have been a better puzzle. Puzzles don't have to be original in nature (this one isn't, it's just minecraft). But they should be more than endless repetition.

Now, if you don't like puzzles, then no puzzle will be good, and that also was a part of my original point in this thread -- why add puzzles to a game that has a huge following of people, many of whom probably never play puzzle games? At least if you do so, pick something better that doesn't use a mechanism that, maybe close to half your players don't like and never use (crafting).

I've heard speculation that the only reason why the puzzles are the way they are is that they were trying to bring Minecraft into FO4. Great for the Minecraft people, but not so great for people like me.
Simple makes the game "longer" so you think you got your 20$ worth of flc

Christ you sound like my 40+ year old dad.
I went through these puzzles legit on my first character.
It ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ sucked.
Now this can help me zoom through these on subsequent playthroughs.

I agree with the OP. While I did not enjoy the puzzles the first time, I'm not a big puzzle person and that's my preference. However, I paid my money the same as everyone else so I should be able to play the game the way I want to play it and I would HATE the idea of going through that series again.

I LOVE replayability in games and this is only my second full playthrough. However after going through once the puzzle is no longer a challenge...it's simply tedious. One common problem with game devs these days is that they don't understand the difference between the two.

Lockpicking? I consider that a challenge because the locks are not all set to unlock at the same point and I might run out of lockpicks. Hacking? That ♥♥♥♥ is tedious because if I mess it up, I can come back. No real risk of not being able to complete it as long as I have patience.

Think about the toughest fight you've ever had in a game. ANY game. Now think about the most ANNOYING fight...ever. Not the same fight are they? There's a difference between 'That Boss keeps killing me! I've almost beaten him twice but man is he tough!' and 'I keep dying in that last Boss fight because he spawns HORDES of minions and they shred me! SO annoying!'

Obviously, the several threads regarding the puzzles means that many Fallout players find them more tedious than challening.

Thanks to the OP for this. I finally got to this point in FH and while I love puzzle games, I ran into the bug that keeps you from interacting with the blocks in the puzzles. It took me 30 minutes to do the first one, which should've on taken 5, due to having exit and re-enter trying to get the blocks to activate. And all that going back and forth from the dimly lit regular FO4 environment to the super bright, glow-y puzzle environment sent my sensory hypersensitivty through the roof. Afterwards I had to exit the game and go lie down on my bed with all the lights off for an hour to let the headache and nausea pass. I've been running into just about every bug since the last patch so I fully except this is happen again, and I'm *not* going through that 4 more times. Just the thought of seeing that nauseating blue glow and listening to those turrets and blocks with that weird reverb they added to the sounds in the puzzle again makes me wince in pain.

The puzzles don't matter to me as much as the story so as long as I can get through these faster without missing any of the story and screwing up the quests I'll do it.

You obviously didnt listen to the convo while in the puzzle. You can leave at anytime and all progress is saves and when you resume you can take up from the exact same point. Just die, exit, save, return.

But it's a Bethesda game. The fear that something might break when you can't save is absolutely warranted.

My first time attempting the first puzzle got bugged when the indexers simply wouldn't return after collecting the data. If that had happened on the final puzzle instead, I'd have quit or cheated immediately.

♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ DUDE HOW DID YOU GET PAST IT?? I AM HAVING THE SAME ISSUE!
... I still haven't gotten past puzzle 5. I don't know how to arrange all those ... beam direction changers. I'd do as OP posted, but XB1 doesn't have console commands.

I would recommend doing the puzzles the first time through but after that, skip that ♥♥♥♥. The last 2 were terrible and a waste of time.

Ummm.... no. True gamers do not use cheats to get through a game. No matter how difficult. No matter how bullsh!t it is. No matter how no accurate to the game it is. We true gamers always find a way to brush it off and play it the right way. You are not playing the game with cheats. You are just watching the game.

I only wished the way to that terminal wouldnt be so long, into that base, through it in zig zag..up the stairs and through the tunnel and out of PA bla bla bla.

That makes it really a pain if you want to do a break from the puzzle and resume later, when you have to walk so much every time, thats why i forced myself to finish them all in one attempt. But if people want to bypass them its ok. I do bypass the challenge in battle with playing on the lowest difficulty, everybody should be able to focus on whats most important for them and bypass whats not.

Down Load the mod on Nexus, you don't even have to even touch the stupidty on this quest.
squirbo Apr 1, 2018 @ 1:51pm
I only used this because my game glitched to a save BEFORE I completed it
