Far Harbor: the Striker (minor spoiler)

OK, because I give some details and ponderings I'm padding the top of the post here.


Right, now... FH, Beaver Creek Lanes, you'll (eventually) find The Striker, which is a Fatman modified to shoot 'specialized' bowling balls.

It's almost useless as a weapon, but to mess around with, ti's an absolute blast!

Now... to those to mess around, in TGM mode you don't use ammo. But the Striker will allow you to pick up your spares... I mean, your bowling balls, after impact and re-use them. So in firing and retrieving a ball, you've duplicated it, and it's 10 caps per, weightless (no idea if survival changes that or to what value).

If the 'neverending' legendary attribute could be applied, the thing's not only hilarious, it's an outright cap farm. Just find a spot to start shooting balls into, head down, pick 'em up, go sell 'em.

The above only applies to players like myself who fully enjoy screwing around in the game, but get a tinge of guilt at *directly* modifying variables... in other words, I'd use a "bug" like this in a heartbeat, but I'd never just add myself 10K caps.

Try launching a ball straight up (which you can't completely do). Hang time is ridiculous, and you can try and run to the impact.

And yes, you can knock down the pins with it, if you're careful. Shoot low and the ball digs into the lane surface and loses it's oomph.

So, Striker: totally useless, completely fun. A+ would seek it out again.

That's not a bug though. You're just giving yourself infinite ammo via the console to sell. But I have to admit, I do enjoy the sound of shooting bowling balls at people...

at least u can now throw a bowling ball instead of hold E and release it :D

I know it's not a bug, that's why I wrapped it in quotes... it's an unintended consequence.

And thinking on it, I need to go back to Home Plate some time and dig a junk jet out of storage and see what the 'side effects' are there. Likely none because the projectiles are junk, but it might be a handy game-oriented duplication tool if it does retain 'ammo' while leaving it retrievable. Beats hunting a base ID for an explicit console add.
