So, giant hermit crabs are a thing.
I was looting a wrecked building in Far Harbor when I heard something outside, this is what I saw when I walked outside.

There's something about it that scares the hell out of me.

..lol...
i couldnt stop laughing when i saw one.
i havent had chance to go to the island yet so im just looking through the codes.
one of many of my underwater bases are home to deep king mirelurks.
so i thought i'd have a look at one of these hermits.
oh man,, did i laugh. i love 'em.
only 1 thing,,, the mfka'z actualy drown underwater... you believe that sht??
deep kings and queens and even a scorpion or 2,, all living happily at the bottom of the ocean.

stoopid crab drowned in seconds. they Are lovable tho. lol.
i'll stick em in a cavernous part so they have air to breath.

havent looked at the other animals yet.
i only bought the dlc for the codes,, and the great landmass. bonus storyline and missions thrown in for good measure.
just havent had time to go through it.. just been sitting there while i read the forums.
im looking for forward to really getting stuck into in the island and its new stuff.

Nice.

Mmmm, fresh crab.

Publicado originalmente por HoroSaga:
Explosives work very strangely, in comparison to normal weapon attacks. They seem to inflict damage to a target multiple times based on how many locations they hit. Because the Giant Hermit Crabs are designed with several hit locations all close to the ground, a single mine can hit five or six locations at once, meaning that the mine is doing five or six times normal damage.

With most targets, a mine will usually only hit two locations (the legs).

Interesting.

I was a bit surprised when one particular enemy emerged through an obviously-opened-by-event-trigger door, set off two of my bottlecap mines and a cryo mine (all boosted by Demolitions Expert 4) but not only survived but was still able to charge me rather quickly, heh -- and this was on hard, not very hard. Granted, I'm also level 160+ and so was it...

Nice.

It has the highest build limit anywhere on the map I believe. Good like finding a flat place to start from but you can build really high.

Cool.
my spectacle island is a "big" game reserve.
tiny compared to far harbor.
already got plans for a fishing/hunting island with underwater bases and surface "terrariums".
lol.
(and with my custom textures,,, if any of them are shared, far harbor is gonna look like pandora).
(just got a load of re-texturing of the new animals to do).
Those Hermits tho. ahhhh. lol.

O.O

I haven't seen any of the ones I've killed respawn yet. I've killed three--I haven't looked up how many there are. The last one I killed was an albino one at one of the marked locations. Halfway through the fight, after me murdering all its offspring and it at half health, it tried to run away and I chased after it, pumping shotgun shells into its claw until it was dead. I felt kind of like a jerk for that. LOL.

EDIYL: I just looked them up on the wiki and it says that if they respawn they may take a lot longer than other hostilites to do so. Also it says in their stats that they will never flee, but I discovered that's false--I was definitely chasing that crab down the riverbank. Ha. Maybe it's because I have Old Longfellow's Perk or because of my high level? Dunno.

As far as I know, they are individually placed creatures, so good luck on the respawning. They might in in random encounter lists, however.
