It happens with all customizable robots (except to Codsworth, I believe). A workaround is to replace it with a base-game companion (i.e. Strong, Piper, Dogmeat, etc), so Ada, or the generic robot, should go to wherever you point them to.

If you want to lone wolf, simply dismiss the base-game companion.

Actually all you need to do is use the robot workbench take off her head armor. Get off the workbench then get back on the robot workbench put back her head armor or anything really and then dismiss her. It finally worked for me.

I tried what Fion said and it does work. Or you just use mods like Cheat Terminal disable companion essential kill Ada then re enable it.

I had issues with her on the last run - I'm given to understand building a robot workbench before recovering the first implant for ada causes it.

If it comes up again I found while I can't dismiss Ada in that game I *can* recruit a different companion which dismisses Ada as a side effect, then you can dismiss the new companion.

I'm guessing you're going to need this soon too: https://www.google.com/search?client=ubuntu&hs=r2H&q=ada+can+only+mod+legs

This worked thanks, but for me I just took the head armor off and spoke to her and she actually thanks.

Awright, off wi' 'er 'ead, then! Gee, wouldn't've thought of that. The only way I could "get rid of" her was to recruit someone else. It's really irritating when the Dismiss prompt refuses to manifest.

It makes me smile when the robots say (when you try to dismiss them) "I wouldn't recommend that" or something similar.. sounds a bit threatening to me - like a stalking, controlling ex-lover. :D

I get a kick out of Aida's sycophantic utterances. "My, you certainly know your way around a workshop!" IRL I'd growl, "Awright, whaddaya want?"

you have remove the head, then make new one or diffrent one ... and it should work... funny was when my Player said "I no longer need your help" it sound so much in robotic way, I think its intresting with Robots, but it gives ideas is Institue better or worse than Robco Industries?

None of those work, must have been an update that's killed it, but this does:

Hover mouse over Ada, and type this in console:

cf "actor.setcompanion" false false 4

Then the list comes up of where you want the annoying f@"!*8! to go to.

last time Ada refused to go away i simply turned her into a Mrs. Nanny.

Don't give into the temptation of companions, They're totally not worth it. May as well watch a movie than travel with a companion.
