Fallout 4
My Far Harbor Review (slight spoilers)
** Please Note that now that the DLC is out for my region I am not binded by any NDA anymore and can technically post this due to the DLC being out

Before I begin I will list everything I have done in terms of the dlc
- 38 hours Spent on the island
- All main quests done and every ending experienced
- All side quests done
- Every location explored and all Settlements unlocked
- 2/3 faction quests done
- Have not found every copy of the islander almanac (3 so far)

Look if you don’t want to read anything else of this review then read this, take Nick to all Story missions for a surprise.

Fallout 4 Far Harbor is in many ways a massive improvement over the dire main game. Common complaints from the main game included that you couldn’t be a bad guy or your choices from the main story didn’t have an impact on the landscape. Well I can tell you one thing, Charge cards are now ACCEPTED at this mysterious and new location. Contrary to my other reviews I wont just write about it generally but instead break it up into various sections so that people who want to know more about a section can read there. Also note there may or may not be spoilers, if there is I will give substantial time to avoid them if you so desire.

Story

The Story in Far Harbor is simple, find the missing girl. But instead its more than that. In reality this plot point only really exists to set up the other and more interesting point in the story. While I won’t spoil it, I highly recommend you bring Nick Val with you to all story missions on the island as he has essentially a second but more subtle companion quest. These main quests are quite interesting and dare I say unique, there is one well I thought impressive part in one of the main quests that made me have to use my brain, which I didn’t think was possible in this game but alas it is. I wont go anymore into the story but there are several endings that can lead to various different outcomes that change the outcome of the island.

Yes there are factions involved but not the same ones as those found in the base game. These factions all have their own side quests and vendors and lore built into them. Their side quests are for the most part more so interesting then the main games bar a few. Without spoiling any of them some of them can be completed in different ways that don’t involve killing. But at the end of the day if you boil it all down to the central part then yes a majority of them do involve going here to kill there or collect them. But they are done in a way that provide some visual impact like upgrading a certain place or getting more respect from locals which open up more side quests. Also I hope you like being a detective ;)

But what about the base game factions? Bethesda promised new Faction Quests right? Well your right they did and they are there. However they are not what you may imagine, now as far as I know there is only 3 new faction’s quests, one for each faction. Note that the minutemen don’t count as the only faction one I’ve seen from them is “Defend This New Settlement!!!!” If someone has done the Railroad faction quest for the island please let me know

Settlements

Yes there had to be a paragraph dedicated to them. In terms of Settlements there are 4 new locations, however those who wanted more flat land to build their dream house on will have to wait. Instead you are treated to 4 vastly different areas that I can see at least 2 having some sort of restoration project attached to. There no Hangman’s Alley type settlements sizes here or spectacle islands, but they are medium in size.

The Settlements can also mostly be cleared out such as whole buildings removed or removing one piece of trash clears that whole area giving you more space. In term of settlement items there are a few new ones, but not the ones that were leaked a while back unless they are a schematic in some secret place. Stuff like Barns are there which means everyone be Old Macdonald who had a farm full of death claws. (which Btw there are a few on the island but not many)

What is disappointing is that the new beasts (which there are quite a few) cannot be caged or pitted against one another in the arena or even head mounted on the wall yet.

Loot

There is a decent sized loot pool in the island, these involve new Armor and weapons. There are a few new legit new legendary weapons that aint Pipe Pistol that does 50% more damage to human. I won’t spoil it but some of the more interesting loot involves radiation while you may of seen some of the best armor in the trailer.

Exploring

In term of exploring the island, it’s fairly big and took my 10 minutes to go from one side to the other running. There are a few new unique enemies as well which you have also seen in the trailer, high level players beware some of these new enemies will test how many bullets you can put in them before they 3 shot you. I won’t go into any details.
Also note something interesting is Stat Checks, yes that’s right that thing we could do on the captains ship is called a stat checks and Far harbor has way more then the base game, in fact you get one almost 5 mins into Far harbor.

There are more than 20 locations and I can confirm that for the most part these are unique and interesting though there are a few bland and boring locations that have no use and are lazily called a location. There are also a fair amount of unmarked locations like Red Rocket stations, houses, cars and Boats! (ow Shoot spoilers!!!)

Conclusion

In conclusion there is a lot I want to talk about and share with all of you, but in doing so I would be hurting the experience of the player. But I hope that ive cleared up some things that may or may be stopping someone from buying the game.

If anyone has any questions about the dlc and don’t want to ask on Steam, you can ♥♥♥ me and we can talk about it elsewhere. But I will not spoil the game at any cost

PS: Thanks Bethesda for this awesome dlc, it rocked!

No matter where you are on this planet, you can not have it more than 24 hours earlier than any other region, period, no discussion possible.
Any here lies the problem, since you posted that comment 6 hours ago and that point you claimed that you played it for 38 hours, meaning that you started to play 44 hours ago at this moment of writing.

Admit it... you never paid a single dime for this DLC.
If you beta tested like me you had access to the dlc for over a week

What Islander Almanacs have you found and where did you find them, if you can remember?
I found 3, one at one of the first places you go to. Another at one of the settlements and another at a lighthouse

Автор сообщения: Ten Million Dollars
Are you locked into one of the new factions or can you join all of them at the same time?
You can join them all

By settlement do you mean national park visitors centre? There isn't much info on where they are at the moment. And all I can find is 3.

Thanks for this review. But there is one question of major importance:
Does the lever action rifle we saw in the trailer reload every shell individually like in NV?
I just checked and yea it does
Not it dose't load every bullet individually. It load 5 rounds no matter how many rounds you fired,is stupid mistake, lazy Bethesda ♥♥♥♥

My bad, thought I saw old long do it
Far Harbour is only let down by the lack of Behemoths riding deathclaws into battle.
