Just how fun are melee builds?
After you find that one very good melee weapon (or you stuck with someone you found early game and just upgraded it into greatness) you're kinda set. You don't need to buy ammo for it cause it's a melee weapon. These kinds of builds seem fun for the next couple of hours but after a while I'm worried it might get stale...(the same can be said about any other build I know, it's just you have the luxury of using a wide selection of weapons.)

I just want to know what I'm gonna be walking into...well heres my build and if it still sounds fun after some feedback on this playstyle than I can't wait to try it out.

The Bobbleheads will allow me to get both Lifegiver and Medic later game. However they aren't needed early game so that's why Charisma is so high up. (That will help me do those speech checks, as well as Local Leader...I like Local Leader.) If your still questioning how I get Local Leader when I only have 5 Charisma points, the Bobblehead.

Very fun. Super addictive. Blitz perk makes melee vats pretty incredible, and real time fighting is great too if you can time your blocks properly. I guess for the weapons you'll be sticking to your favorites until you find a good Legendary. I used the named baseball bat that Moe sells, it's basically the melee version of the Deliverer as it has reduced AP costs in vats.

I played for 400 hours wanting to try a mele build but going nah, it's going to be boring looking at the same weapon all the time (pickman's best for stealth mele... my opinion, other still work.)

Then I tried it and I was like.... YES! THIS is the game!

Try mele, it's better than you think it will be by LEAGUES!

Would you say my build is pretty decent? I'm just following a guide and made some small adjustments (mainly just taking points out of INT and END and putting them into CHA.) I've been looking around and it seems like something like this is more popular. It seems interesting I must say, really out there and all lol.

The poster said get Idiot Sevant first than either Moving Target or Rooted second and the other one third. After that pick either Iron Fist or Big Leagues (or both lol) than your all set, all you'll be doing is updating those skills to the other tiers and burning skill points into END or something lol.

Edit- And of course he says get Blitz too. I forgot to note that lol.

On survival, its a little hard.
In lots of cases, your melee output is based on legendary drops, but otherwise it's very fun to do.

Just be aware, you may run at an enemy one day and get shredded in seconds (super mutants spring to mind here)

As I am playing a hybrid Bruce Campbell / Ash Williams character I wanted to concentrate on shotgun (MY BOOM STICK) and a melee weapon. Unfortunately I've yet to see a chainsaw, the ripper is kind of close. But once I got that sacrificial knife at the bottom of Dunwich Borers, I'm a feral ghoul killing machine! Shotguns the crowd of them, taking lives and legs out. Then quickly switch to that wicked blade and heads start rolling!!

Yeah that looks pretty good, melee vats works so good with the Luck tree, and you cant go wrong with agility. I love these extreme builds too, like going 8 or 9 on a special. Dont worry too much about Moving Target you can get it later, Rooted is better.

I play with only a Legendary Switchblade and sneak all the time. I can clear entire rooms in one VATS go around if everyone is visible. It is awesome!

If I wanted to melee ♥♥♥♥, I'd play Skyrim.

In all seriousness though... I don't like it. I spent too much time playing Vermintide, which has some of the best Simple Melee combat. Though I guess it is kind of fun stunlocking legendary Deathclaws with a Super Sledge.

I finally made a melee character just before robot dlc was released and its stupid OP in most cases, but when SurvivalMode beta started I felt I needed some firepower too because some things got abit annoying, but what never changed was the fact that my aluminium bat was doing the most damage especially when I found real tough enemies, it was easier to sneak up on them and get a 5x super crit then anything else. Since then I've started a new char.... again, and she's a pistol weilding killing machine aswell. That said, I could not keep my self from going rifles too in the end... the game trolls me every time by dropping weapons that are too amazing to ignore just as I pick perks that dont work with those. Like I go pistol build and get a explosive shotgun just a few hours in to the game. -.-

I don't consider Melee with Sneak Attacks melee... I consider it Stealth. If you're gonna melee, the only way to do it is taking bullets while running up to the enemy like a lunatic.

You are kinda right, I mean, blitz basically make your character a human bullit, or teleporting monster, no matter whats in the way almost you just blink and bam bam bam dead. Its a stupid mechanic, as with alot of things Fallout or Bethesda in general.

Meh. At least Bethesda made every build possible equally OP. In Skyrim, if you played on Legendary, the only way to not die instantly to everything was stealth. Blitz is part of that for Melee, though personally I'd settle with the option to equip a "Shield" like some Super Mutants do so we don't have to rely on VATS.
