Mole rat disease...

is there any way to NOT get it during the vault 81 quest?

i made a quick save just before the first molerats show up and i know for damn certain that none of them are touching me but i'm still getting the disease..

did they make it so you can't, not get it?

yeah, just confirmed.. ran up the stairs and jumped on top of some high crates so they can't attack me.. none of them were in sight and i still got the disease...

is it because i have dogmeat with me?

I didn't get it during that quest, but I was wearing power armor and killed the mole rats from a distance.

Apperantly it's a glitch, if your companion or even the protectron you can activate gets hit, you can get the disease.

Do not take a companion with you for this quest. If they get bit you get the disease. Then constantly save , pretty much after each molerat attack . Make sure you were not bit, save move on . Rinse and repeat and you will not have the disease when complete.

Apperantly it's a glitch, if your companion or even the protectron you can activate gets hit, you can get the disease.

I thought survival mode was going through there naked with just a baseball bat and not get the disease.

Vault 111 to Diamond City Level 1 naked with just a security baton. Make it happen.

Getting to diamond city without a fight is actually fairly easy. Go south from vault 111 evading locations with mobs (So map locations, roads, and the handful of unmarked areas), cross on the railroad bridge near Greygarden and then follow the river until you hit the first bridge before going south to diamond city.

True, but it works. I got through without the disease once I made sure I had no companions and didn't use the protectron.

could be worse...i made it through without the disease then 2 days later it just showed up when i started the game

each time infected molerat from vault 81 attacks anyone (like literally anyone, though it was restricted only to player in ufo4p) - you have a chance to get the disease. the chance is based on your endurance, though it's never 0%. if you really don't want to spend tons of time on a sneak-run with no aid, you can always assign the cure to the favorites to quickly use it before it's taken from you to cure the kid. the quest will then proceed as if you weren't such a cheating spine)

I wore a hasmat suit and avoided being hit if you can mange that you can not get infected

Its a bad designed mission, You get it no matter what, also I don't know of a way to cure it, I still have the effect active on my character.

You can get the molerat disease cure via console if you felt that you got it unjustly (such as from a companion or protectron being hit).

Save after each encounter if you didn't get it during the fight. Don't bring any companions. Use VATS and a weapon that can kill them with one shot.
