Gen 1 > Gen 2 > Gen 3 synth evolution
Gen 1s and Gen 2s are robots, plain and simple. Gen 3? The next step being indistinguishable from a human is quite a leap - there's no 'in between' cited whatsoever. Seems a bit of a stretch to me anyway.

Wot about Nick?
Stoob May 14, 2016 @ 11:16am
He's a robot. With gears and cogs and whatnot.

lol It's not like anyone thought, "What? You're not a human?"

lel
Anyway, back to the topic, the synths from the loading screens could be considered an inbetween.

But going from a re-inforced facade like the gen2's to the gen 3's full-on flesh is quite a leap. They're effectively creating life from nothing, if we are to believe the authenticity of the gen 3s and what goes on in the 'birthing' area.

Maybe Gen 2s were the final attempt on trying to create human-looking synths without using DNA, then Nick was the final form of that, but it was later abandoned?

Gen 2''s, as explained by existing and upcoming content, were their first attempt at creating personalities for their synths, one of them made their own, and Nick, was given one that already existed, Detective Valentine from the Pre-War.

No other synths before them had memories and couldn't process emotions and personalities, the next step was to create a synth, that was completely human

So makes sense that the next step would be to use actual human DNA in making their bodies.

Nick still looks like a gen 2, which only have a humanoid appearance - they don't look 'a human' whatsoever.

It's still a tremendous leap going from writing code to writing genes.

You wouldn't mistake him for a real human being, even if his face wasn't broken. Go marry Nick if you love him so. Damn, it's not Skyrim...
