Shipment Of Aluminum, Buyer Beware
Going for the ridiculous price of 1700 caps. Seeing as how that much aluminum is contained in an average roll of aluminum foil. To make matters worse the game cheats shamelessly when you buy that shipment.

I inserted my "shipment" into the workshop at Starlight, and then proceded to modify two items. I modded a combat rifle to make it a .308 combat rifle. Then I went to mod my X-01 torso armor to install a jetpack. No can do. There is no aluminum left. That's not right; I only used about 20 aluminum modding the combat rifle.

Did a quick reload, then modded the jetpack first. Should have plenty of aluminum left for the combat rifle, right? Wrong, there's no aluminum left when I go to modify the rifle. When I finished the mod on the jetpack, the game showed I still had 40 aluminum left. When I got to the weapons workbench it had disappeared.

Something's rotten in Denmark!!

Tried reloading the game. No change. Tried restarting the computer, then restarting the game. It still made no difference. Apparently a "shipment of 50 aluminum" is going to be used up at one workbench, no matter how much aluminum you actually use.

I haven't noticed this happening with other shipments. For instance a shipment of concrete seems to be used up normally, even if you go to other settlements.

The last thing to try is to buy another shipment of aluminum and see if it gets cheated out of existence also.

And no, I'm not running any mods.

What works is this. When you get to your settlement drop your shipment of aluminum on the ground. Then scrap it for the actual 50 pieces of aluminum. You will then not be screwed out of your aluminum.

Don't everybody thank me at once.

Or go to the fish works and pick up 80+ aluminium per run. People buy shipments?

Mahkra Fishpacking location has a bunch of aluminum treys good for about 100 aluminum, go thier if you want some more. they are at the lower floor on shelfs and the conveyer.

That bug with the Shipments has been known for a while now.

Vault 95 has a fair bit of aluminium as well - lots of surgical trays and alluminium cans all over the place.

I know about the places to find aluminum. I bought the shipment to get it quickly. Then I discovered you don't get what you pay for--unless you drop it on the ground and scrap it. As it was, modifying the one combat rifle and adding the jet pack to one set of power armor, just about used up the entire 50 aluminum, even after I broke it down to scrap.

Unlike adhesive there is no way to get hold of the vast quantities you need to keep your weapons/armor up to date.

Thats why you need to collect it as you explore and level up, and by the time ya do unlock more weapon and armor mods, you have it ready

places ya get it from do respawn btw, so you can go back to the same places to get more aluminum :)

Yeah, I know that too. It's one of the weaker points of the game. Being very limited in area the same area has to recreate its tems very often or the player soon runs out of resources.

The jetpack was a huge disappointment also. Not very easy to trigger, and it only keeps you up for a few seconds. They had better actual jetpacks in the 1960's.

I always throught the jetpack using stamina was dumb. Only works for like 2 seconds. Should only use core power. Better mods are the AP regenerating ones.

That's the one I ended up using. I was hoping the jetpack would replace the need for a vertibird.

Yeah I always do this with everything just to be safe plus it keeps my settlement size at nothing regardless of how big i make it and i always like seeing how much of each component i have and it makes it easier for transport

This is why I pick up EVERY aluminium can I find. EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM.
