Fallout 4 and memory limits
So fallout 4 has 64-bit architecture, and there are no limits like in skyrim? And I can install all memory-heavy mods without being afraid that it will crash once I launch the game, as far as my rig has enough RAM, right?

no fallout 4 has a memory limit too, just becareful of texture pack mods and you will be fine.

I had more CTD's with them then without them when I tried it.

Yes.

However, larger and larger textures and mods will significantly increase load times. Like from a few seconds to minutes in extreme cases.

But the game is Dx11 and 64 bit - so you don't have the VRAM mirroring issue of Dx9 and you're not limited to 4 GB of RAM usage.

64 bit Architectures have their limits too, they're just set higher over a 32 bit game such as Fallout 3.

Assuming fallout 4 wasn’t coded by monkeys (which sometimes I wonder if it was) then it should be able to make use of the full memory capabilities of the 64-bit architecture, which is to say its cap is higher than anything you'll own at a consumer level for at least 10 more years. What you should be worried about is how well your system will be able to handle all them mods

Obsidian is one of the best modding teams out there, but they can do a pretty lousey job, it depends.

No doubt, every team has strengths and weakness. Made exceedingly apparent in games the size of Fallout 4 and Fallout: NV

Oh no I definitely meant obsidian.
Look, I respect them for being one of the better modding teams out there, but they have their flaws too.

I think we can all agree the solution is to upgrade to Windows Vista

I run Windows 8.1, pretty sure I can't run Windows Vista.

I mean Vista is an insane power house. all this talk of 64-bit, but peeps can't accept the power of 32-bit and its 4GB memory limit. it's totes the best yo
*sarcasm

but in seriousness I'm not sure whats worse Windows Vista or 8 (not 8.1, thats OKish)

Windows 7 seems to run better, but I prefer 8.1 for some reason

actually imho windows 10 runs better then 7, this is also probably due with theres less space consumed with windows 10. and theres no real good os, theres bad ones for sure but no good one. because if you have a sealed tight os (8.1) then you cant do that much, an more open os (7) is great until you hit a point where your easily unprotected without getting security software from multiple different companies.
