Are the Illnesses in survival random?
I keep on getting fatigued even though I sleep at least 8 hours out of 24 in a bed. In my last play I contracted parasites and encountering a wasteland doc I decided to get cured of everything rads, illnesses the lot, went back to my base ate and drank well and slept in a bed for 9 hours. As soon as I "woke up" I had the weakness illness (-20% damage resistance)?? I don't understand why when I am well nourished and well rested I get weakness 10 hours after paying the doc to cure me. So it leads me to believe that some of these illnesses are just random BS programmed into the game. Is there some info anywhere as to how players get these illnesses, because getting weakness after eating and sleeping well doesn't seem quite right to me.

But what did BS do? they went in the opposite direction. and changed the sleep requirement from once every 24 hours to once every 12 (or 14 something like that). If that was the case in "real life" none of us could work a Job for 8 to 10 hours. Point is. It is MY OPINION, that the system is broken BS knows its broken and sd screw it. they will be able to mod it out in a month or so on all systems anyway. But if you are enjoying it great. I am happy that you are (really, no sarcasm) just not my "cup a tea" yet.
Honestly, I think the mode would be better with check boxes of features you can pick and choose from. I'm enjoying it currently but I know there are already mods cropping up to mitigate the features of survival.

Give it a few months and you'll probably have a ton of mods to make survival just how you wnat it.

Because thats how community modding goes.

Illnesses are not random. Certain actions have a chance to make you sick, and other actions increase this chance.

Things that can make you sick:

1. Unpurified Water
2. Uncooked food, particularly meats
3. Exposure (Rain and Radiation Storms)
4. Dirty Beds (Pristine beds are the only ones that will not make you sick, sleeping bags and floor mattresses can)
5. "Dirty" enemy attacks. Usually animal melee
6. Chems, including Stimpaks

Things that increase your chances of getting sick:
1. RadAway
2. Low END
3. All Chems (Including Stimpaks)

So with all that said, the biggest thing that has a chance to make you ill is Stimpak spam or chem spam.

Illnesses have a chance to auto-resolve after 7 game days.

Great info! where did you get it?

most of it is public info on Bethesda.net with their official survival updates and stuff.

Other things are trial-and-error personal experience. Namely Low END, Dirty matresses and exposure. If there's anything you shouldn't believe outright, it's those three things, as I'm just one person, with an anecdotal experience. The rest is confirmed even in-game by Survival help loading screens.

I guess one reason I am getting sick often is low END then. (its currently a 3 "facepalm") But it would be helpful to let players know that kinda stuff wouldn't you agree? What each stat does in more detail for survival mode.

Yeah, my character is 3END and she gets sick quite a bit. Fortunately most of the illnesses in Survival are fairly benign.

Unless you get Infection, Weakness or Fatigue+Insomnia, you don't really need to worry. Cure them at a doctor and don't waste your precious Panacea. (I refuse to call them Antibiotics)

maybe an on screen wellness stat rating?

Dark Hunger is a death sentence in Survival Mode, don't bother with the cannibal perk.

But there's so many people to eat!

Can you cure Dark Hunger? I've never used Cannibal.

I believe Antibiotics do, but I can't verify..

This is why you add doctors to your important settlements

Naw, just use a water pump, fill your health up, and then sleep for a couple days. Infection should go away on its own eventually.

Or, you can tough it out. If you hunt, and use stimpaks (There's plenty of them) you can outlast the damage of infection.

Infections go away after a few days then?

oh it goes a way after a few days?

Usually yes. I think 7 but it may be shorter. You should get a message that says "Your {infection] persists" if it doesn't go away.

The only disease I haven't been able to sleep off is parasites though. I guess my gal's colon is hot property. I'll have to ask Hancock about that one.

Thanks for the Info. I really appreciate it. I'm kinda glad I blew my top earlier and graced this discussion with my rant of rage.
