Define "good". Theres one that I saw that works out how much kinetic energy every bullet type would have, and converts it into new base damage for every weapon. Unfortunately, its so "realistic", it completely destroys gameplay. I think the 50-cal, which is designed for taking out tank engines, does something like 50k damage. :P

I'm waiting on an all-inclusive gun overhaul. Previous fallouts have gotten some decent ones, but we're talking a year or three down the line.

not really.
what's "realistic" for you?
a shot in the wrist could be deadly if it hits an ateria... people survived headshots.

besides that "realism" and gameplay sometimes can't go hand in hand.

maybe tell us first what is the "unrealistic" part that disturbes you.
this way it's easier to point you in the right direction regarding mods.

.50cal doesnt take out Tank Engines. Even if it fired a uranium tipped tungsten round. You'd have to have a tank with the worst rear armor in the world to achieve it. A HVAP 30mm Uranium tipped tungsten round could penetrate about 90mm of homogenized steel, and that isn't enough to knock out a modern tank. You need to be firing full depleted Uranium rounds from say a 35mm to really be effect at it and you need to fire them in bulk.

.50cal about the best it can do is penetrate light armored vehicles, and wreck the engine block of a normal vehicle.
by realistic i mean a overall correct damage model so that enemies arent bullet sponges and (like real life) we do the same damage with the sameweapon
a .50 will kill upto a t72 with a rear shot , perpendicular to the radiator, but thats besides the point

good thing is: we don't go against modern tanks that often in this game ;)
but if you want an historic "anti tank" rifle, try this http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/11925/?

Are there any mods that stop human (non-ghoul, non-synth) heads exploding? I can easily accept ghouls exploding (they are dead and rotting after all) and synths are machines so they could be explained rationally to, but real human heads just don't explode like that when using standard ammo.

Good luck pulling that kind of shot off in combat conditions. WWII proved that anti tank rifles were next to suicide at combat ranges vs tanks. Being the rear armor ofa soviet tank is relatively sloped you'd have to get pretty close to do it, either that or shoot down on it from atop a building as it drove down a street. if that is the case you might as well starve the engine by throwing incendiaries on top of it. lol

WWII had it's own rules and learning curves.
who had guessed before that the biggest tank killer would be a 88mm FLAK?

but that's offtopic.
the OP is not asking for anti TANK weapons, but a less spongy anti person fight ;)

Survival difficulty. Enemies deal 2x damage, you deal 2x damage + drugs + Adrenaline that can be stacked up to 50% (after having killed 50 enemies of any kind). If you do it right you can be a sniper hanging around in the woods and snipe super mutant masters in the head with 1 shot, even legendaries go down in 1 hit (as if you kill all of their health they don't have time to mutate). Ofc, it does require that you can stay far away and get sneak 2x - 3.5x damage on the enemies. Bloody mess also add damage +115%

So basically you can get 1 * 200% * 150% * 125% * 350% * 115% = 1509,375% bonus damage on ranged weapons. If you factor in skills as well you get 1509,375% * 200% = 3018,75% (30.1875x). So if I am not wrong 1 shot from a .308 Combat Rifle is equal to about 75 * 30.1875 =2264 + 30% armor pen and 8% criple chance.

Is that enough of a less bullet sponges for you? Ofc you die fast as well in survival but having good armor does help a lot in most cases but it doesn't mean you can't still die if you are careless.

No matter how you look at it, the best way to get "realistic" damage models in fallout 4 is to build one with perks ingame. When you think its realistic enough stop taking dmg perks. That way you wont end up with stupid scaling issues.
