My Perception Has Tanked for No Reason?!?!?
My Perceptoin Shows Up as (-) 1, even though I've got at least 4 points in it, plus the Bobblehead. I am wearing NOTHING, so no adjustments there. I am under no effects, as the "Show Effects" button isn't showing. I take a buffout to make it show, then look under "Show Effects" and the only thing it shows is HP and Strength added as is correct.

Why would my Perception just tank with no effects from drugs or clothing? Even if I take a mentat, my Perception stows as (-) 2 as though something is killing my perception.

Any ideas?

Okay, I've been able to "add" enough perception to make it change finally from 1 and was able to determine that there is something causing my perception to lose FIVE (5) points. What would cause this?

So I go to Bethesda to put in a support ticket and get this automatic response (I say automatic because it was in my mailbox within 5 minutes of me sending the request for support and it's a Sunday):

Greetings,

Thank you for contacting Bethesda Customer Support. I’m sorry to hear that you’re experiencing an in game issue while playing Fallout 4.

If you are experiencing an issue with a quest, the best thing to do is review your Quests log and investigate any available Quest Markers on your map. If you believe the quest is broken, please try reloading an earlier save.

If you believe an NPC is stuck or missing, you should try exploring other areas in the wasteland and returning later. Upon your return, the area should have reset and the issue should be resolved.

Otherwise, at this time Customer Support has no further troubleshooting we can provide for this problem.

Not even acknowledging my particular problem and yet saying there is nothing they can do, and are going to mark this as "solved".

Great support Bethesda. Really great.

If this really is it, then not only am I done with Fallout 4, but I'm done with Bethesda. Just completely unacceptable customer service. Unbelievable.
Just add some perception with the console, thats what it's there for.

I've never used "the console" whatever that is. Is that the state of gaming today? A publisher sells games with bugs and then gives players a "console" to fix the bugs themselves? Wow.
I was pretty shocked by the lack of support from Bethesda, but I guess I see why now. Gamers are okay with bug infested games so long as they can just fix it themselves?

I'm not meaning to be obtuse, but man this is NOT the preper response to the problem.
The answer to the problem is right in front of you, but obviously your perception is too low to see it.

Riight.... it's all my fault. Bethesda can do no wrong.... it's all the players fault.

Jeebus, if this the state of consumers today no wonder games are sold bug infested and unfinished.

Look, adding 5 perception in the "console" is NOT the right fix because it will unlock all the Perception Perks even though my Perception is really only at 5. It changes the game by "fixing" it this way.

Huge open world games such as Fallout 4 will always have bugs, thats unavoidable, thats why they give you access to the dev console. Submit a proper bug report with a savegame attached to Bethesda.net if you want the devs to take a look at it

It sounds a lot like a glitch where a character loses their head, but is still alive. Their Perception goes down to nothing. Don't know if it could apply to this case though. Did you die to something recently that took your head off?

Use the player.modav perception 5 command

Ever heard of "Help us to help you"? Unless you send them your bugged save, this automatic response is easily justified. Customer Service is not where you report possible bugs to.

I DID send a bug report to SUPPORT. I don't know why I got a response from Customer Service.

I should've known better than to in any way criticize Bethesda. Should've known the thread would tunr like this.

Consumers deserve the crap they get I guess.

My perceptoin already is 5. I can pick all Perks up to 5. But something is adjusting the effective Perception to 1, like a piece of clothing or drug changes it.

Yeah, i get that, the modav command adds a positive modifier to the stat without affecting the perk chart lie the setav command does, that should fix the problem

Oh excuse me for not knowing which publisher and which developer calls that section support or service...

and by the by, you did not say that you send a save so you most likely indeed did not,

also unreasonable complaints != valid criticism.
