Immediate CTD after loading screen
After the patch I reanabled everything in NMM, double checked my .inis so they were the same, then went to launch the game. Then right after the loading finishes, im staring back at my desktop without any errors whatsoever.
Well okay, Ive had an issue like this before when enabling multiple mods at once, so how about just one mod on (darker nights). Nope, same thing.
Hmm. Well scientific method, here goes the control. No mods, load up a save and still, CTD. Is there something new I need to change to be able to play the game?

so that savefile crashes with mods and also without mods (vanilla) ?
could somehow be corrupted and unsuable , i dont know if you can somehow save it then.
possibly rollback to a older save that is not corrupted , might allow you to run it with or without mods ( a popup message will tell you if mods are missing )

if none of that work are you able to start a new game and sucessfully load into the world at all ?

*EDIT* i think you may have to activate your mods from the ingame mod pannel now , not sure , didnt use any mods myself since 1.5

I have the same problem. I not able to start a new game neither with nor without mods enabled. I verified the game files and still CTD's after loading a save game or immediatly after starting a new one.

I had the same issue. Heavily moded game (93 mods/87 plugins) and using F4SE.
After reading countless threads, it appeared that HUD mods may be the root of the problem, as they were when Automatron released.

What worked for me was -

1) Update F4SE to latest version for 1.5.157 (Build 0.1.13)
2) Update "My HUD" with the "Survival beta" patch (ver 3.61)*
3) Open the game launcher through Steam, then open NMM and check plugins are enabled (enable them if they are not)
4) Start Game.

*If you use a different HUD mod, obviously see if there is an update for it (either since 1.5 or for survival beta)

After this I was able to at least get ingame/load previous saves with no problem, but I haven't tried playing for any length of time to test stability.

I have no idea why an unmodded game or trying to run after disabling all mods on a previously modded game doesn't work.

Hope this helps.

I have this problem and I don't use any sort of hud mod. Tried reactivating them though NMM and through the game seperately. Nothing seems to work.

are you missing a master that was on that save?

Do you have any mods that may alter the HUD in any way? (Read descriptions) or maybe Map mods/Map markers/adding locations? Try updating them?

Other than that, I have no idea, sorry.

I had this problem as well but deactivating the dot dot dot mod helped (which prevents the game to show "..." if a weapon name is too long.

yeah that would be a culprit. pretty sure it edits the hud in a way so it would have to be updated for survival

there is a patch for DEF_HUD that fixes this issue, allows dotdotdot to keep working also

Anyone able to maybe make a thread/pinned with a list of problem mods and fixes?

making a thread with problem mods would be unreliable. mods may be broken then get updated to work. or a reliable mod may break and require a update.

fixes are generally found all over. just need to look through some threads.

Thats kind of my point.

If there was a single thread with updated information then people wouldn't have to look through the dozens of threads for potential fixes.

As I'm sure you realise, most people won't bother looking for themselves so you get more and more "WAAAHH My Game Broke" threads. Just sayin'.

Naturally I didn't google how to fix my game or even try at all to fix it, and just rushed here for big brother to beat up bethesda for me. /s
There is no intention for this to be a cry thread, I genuinely wanted help. One thing you are missing though is that each persons case is slightly different. The installed mods and scenario, what is even wrong with the game and their system itself, etc. There are some consistent issues, and thats when the merged threads come up. But with a game that is so heavily modded and varied per system having a thread per issue isnt that bad.

I have been using pleasant UI and Targeting Hud Enchanced, no updates for them so maybe I will have to try a run with them totally uninstalled and after a verification. I tried a different character from a few months ago aswell but still had an instant CTD.

Except when the same issue has come up in over a hundred threads over the last couple of days.

If your modded game CTD's when loading a save or starting a new game the problem is your UI mod.

Mod conflicts will CTD before the main menu, other problems won't manifest themselves until other points in the game. If you happen to have the one unique problem that crashes at this exact same point - no one is going to know unless you remove/update your UI mods as that's the most common cause by far of people's saves suddenly not working.
