Just tried that nothing. The damn thing is broken!
BrownCoatGarrus Apr 27, 2016 @ 8:57pm
Had the same issue. Fixed it:

go to:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Fallout 4

Find the files, add them to the creation kit folder here:
C:\Program Files (x86)/Bethesda.net Launcher\games

Assuming you installed the same paths as me.

You sir are a god thank you this helped! :D

OR you could do like I did, and add your Fallout 4 installation to your "path" environment variable.

If you don't know what that is, look it up.

Can we use the creation kit without installing the game in the PC? Because i have it on PS4 and would like to try making some mods...
AikenAidan May 29, 2016 @ 12:16pm
The CK is a seporate program , BUT it needs access to the F04.esm and other files to actually make MODs

Im in the same boat as Sora above. So there is not a way to MAKE mods without having the master file?
If that's the case, is there a way to attain the master file without having to buy a PC copy?
Im sure they will resolve this issue in the future, but if I can go ahead and make a mod by the time PS4 mods come out it will be smooth sailing

Nope, there is no way. The Ck does not only need the master .esm, it also needs the game to be installed.

For some reason when the files are loaded into your system for the Creation Kit. Some of the files are put in locations the CK isn't looking there. Now it seems they would rather YOU move those file into the creqation kit's location instead of them patching it so the CK looks in the proper location. And some files the CK doesn't even seem to have. You think they would fix that.

It looks like you need to install directX

if you're still having issues uninstall and reinstall the program to "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Fallout 4" (or where ever you installed the game) unsure why the brains at bethesda are unable to auto detect an installation folder is beyond me. ...Wait no it really isn't I've owned hammers smarter......
