Ramen bot in Diamond City
Ok Bethesda, I understand that you're an american company, and want to have fun and stuff...

BUT WHY DOES THE ROBOT ASK ME WHAT I'M DOING?
Nani Shimasuka- (which is grammatically wrong, by the way) translates to "what are you doing?"

That means it has nothing to do with food, and the answer yes makes no sense.
If it asked; 何をたべますか (nani wo tabemasuka) which translates to "what are you eating?" it'd make sense, with the only issue being the answer of "yes."

I dunno, thoughts anyone? Is this some kind of reference to bad english ports of Japanese games, and vice versa?
Has the joke gone completely over my head?

Are you seriously asking me why a robot in a video game located in an apocolyptic future Boston running a noodle stand is not speaking grammatically correct because it doesn't make sense?

What part of that *does* make sense? :)

are you seriously posting on a message board dedicated to a popular game just because you disagree with someone?

How does that make any sense? :)

Not disagreeing with anyone or anything - the fun ones I like to reply to better than the arguments. Mostly.

And nothing at all about my noodle dispensing robot friend in Diamond City makes the least bit of sense to me. ;)

If this was any other language this thread wouldn't have been made. Freaking hate this Japanese obsession on steam. Misprounonce, mispell, or anything of the sort and you will have a bunch of weaboo, otakus or whatever caps locking you. Hope this is a troll....

So annoying

From the Wiki:
Takahashi's only greeting is subtitled as "Nan-ni shimasho-ka?" in the English version, but this is incorrect, as it would imply that Takahashi is ordering with you, rather than taking your order. The phrase, including incorrect grammar, is a direct reference to the noodle vendor in Blade Runner.
Takahashi's dialogue is correctly subtitled in the Japanese version of the game as "ナンニシマスカ?", which is "Nan-ni shimasu-ka?" written phonetically with katakana characters, as is common for robotic speech. In regular kanji+hiragana, this would be written "何にしますか?" It roughly means "May I take your order?" in polite Japanese. Takahashi seems only to understand the word "yes" in response.

Both Cogsworth and Curie tell you it is broken. Preston will think it's the bartender, Piper makes fun of it refering to it as an informer, Nick check on him to make sure no one has messed with it. and Danse acts hostile to it, thinking it a chinese spy or something. lol.

Ok, thanks for clearing it up for me.

Time to kill Takahashi.

何しますか? Or 何をしますか? are the same.

It just like what you want and what do you want.

Well, still disappointed about no Japanese girl voice in automatron.

The bigger question is where are they getting the wheat for the noodles and what is the broth made from. Diamond City doesn't produce any goods, and they only grow mutfruit and Tatos.

razorgrain, probrobly bought from somewhere. or just starch based noodles.
I'm surprised that the OP didn't just go for the obvious assumption like I did; "He's old and broken."

Seriously; I think the number of working Pre-War robots, like Codsworth, has made people forget that robots can still malfunction. Could be as simple as someone accidentally deleting a single character while checking over his programming.
