Best faction to join for the new survival mod?
After reading about the changes in the new survival mode and viewing some let's play to see how it work in practice, i finally nailed the build i will try for it, but i am still not sure about which main faction to join to get the best advantage/give a easier advantage to survive.

Ideologically i strongly support the Institute, but having to fight armored tank armed with big guns and who love to travel in squad seem a lot dangerous. Not counting the huge number of random patrols who loved to hunt me down in my earlier institute run. But having a home inside the institute where you get to from anywhere can be interesting. And be able to spawn legion of synth with the relay grenade can do wonder (especially after their ending when you can buy bulk of those things) and i forgot about the free medical service too.

The Brotherhood seems to be an obvious choice, lot of powerful friends randomly patrolling (even if half of them seem to crash themselves to death because of bad pilots), synth are way less scary to fight than Brotherhood Paladin, and courser is way rarer than knight (but they are a pain to deal with, at least for me), vertibird grenade seem very useful now too. But from what i remember, their missions are more dangerous than the institutes ones (i can be wrong on this, been a while since i played my bos character)

Railroad, meh, ballistic weave is very useful, the deliverer is very good too and i don't need to stick with them to get all of the goods. Railroad heavy are tough as nail and all have gauss rifle (i guess a one hit kill weapon in that mode) but i have only seen 2 patrols of them in my institute ending, so not a common foe to worry about at least.

And the minuteman, i guess, taking the castle to have artillery support is a nice side thing to get and more random friendly patrol (even if they are weak as hell) are always welcome. But aside for that and the easy to buy gauss rifle, minutemen seems to be just a nice bonus to add to whatever other faction to choose from.

After all this, i'm still struggling to choose between the Institute and the Brotherhood of Steel. Both of them give many benefice, but alienating one of them can also be...unwise to some extend. ^^'

Which faction you prefer for survival? Do one of them seem to be the only one and true to go? Or to hell with the danger of that or that and you follow your heart and go for the faction who is the right one ideologically?

Sorry for the epic wall of text. when planning a strategy in those kind of game, i have a habit of overthinking detail like that.

I always favor the Minutemen over the other factions in every playthrough, even in Survival.

But in terms of benefits, BoS vertibird taxis provide the largest benefit.
If only that flaregun worked each time, i'm sure the minutemen would be more fun to side with.
The Institute has it's perks, being able to teleport anywhere to the institute, but you can't teleport anywhere outside the institute (besides the ruins).

Start with Railroad, switch to Brotherhood of Steel at Mass Fusion.

Go with railroad up until you get ballistic weave and deliverer, then never use them again. Use minutemen until you get the castle, then never use them again. Side with BOS, so that you can use vertibirds and have power armored soldier friends everywhere you go.
I never bothered with the institute room you get when siding with them but is that room have safe container for storage? Maybe using the institute room as a dumping place for loot and junk and then use one of the nearby settlements like hangman's alley to craft things (after getting local leader to craft the various workbench in the first place)

I really like the MInutemen. Arty is a fun element.

I also look forward to a few mods that I'll use again, once updated for the new Survival mode.

minutemen and/or bos... settlements + vertibirds = free food / water + bases (sleep, store loot, craft, heal, trader and so on...) and faster travel

without fast travel it's pain in the a**, so having lots of save storages is worth tons of caps...

also with the slower respawns, it's nice to have easy jobs for xp...

"pls preston, which settlement needs help ?"

settlements and power armor are now usefull in survival... what is a good thing.

bos because you can use vertibirds in place of fast travel.
Brotherhood seem to be a favourite, followed by the minutemen. I just need to master the skill of not punching in the face Maxson when he speak and i think i will be able to survive in survival mode. ^^'

Are the minutemen or railroad better vertibird pilot by any chance? Would be ironic if one of those 2 smaller faction ended being better pilot than the big military faction.

The Faction I choose for now is basically me and my companion maybe someday I will join one but since I'm more intrested in just playing and surviving there is no reason to join one.

I have about a third of my settlements set up, Preston and the whiny gang are still in the Museum, though Preston did show up in Vault 81 to remind me that he needed to be rescued, I just ignored him.

Was about to settle Spectacle Island but had to run back to the top of the map to defend a settlement.
