Ha! I would think Xyzzy knows there is a cave beneath the Red Rocket since this person has some 1500 hours logged and, well; you know... is referring to "tommyknockers", that usually are dwelling in caves and mines, you see ^_^

There's a cave under Red Rocket, but I don't think that's what Dogmeat smells.

I shut off clipping once to troubleshoot something (don't remember what) long after Red Rocket was built well up as a fortress settlement. What did I see when I got under the surface around the coolant pumps? Surprise! Three mole rats hiding in their holes, that had apparently never fired during that very first 'clearing' radiant quest. Didn't trip their action afterwards either, so I got back into tcl and shot 'em all where they were parked. Happiness went up, though that might be unrelated because I was refurbishing at the time.
