"Help defend...." miscellaneous quests are broken
I was playing today, and it popped up the "help defend graygarden" quest. I went there, killed the hostiles even talked with the settlers after it, but it didnt count as complete. The quest didnt "write off" from the pipboy. After i did a fast travel, it popped up the "help defend sunrise coop". I did it, killed the enemies, spoke with the settlers confirming they were all killed, and still didn't write off from the pipboy. I stopped playing since i didnt have and earlier save file, and now i'm scared that if i roam the wasteland, the settlement will suffer losses since it didnt got it off from the pipboy.
Is there any way to fix these or what is the issue?

For Graygarden I found it takes some time for the final attackers to spawn and be detected. Sometimes I'd get the chatter.. thanks but quest was not completed because of the time it took for the attackers to spawn at the very edge or perhaps in the next cell. In any case, I found by doing a wide perimeter run initiated the spawn.. after that in further attacks, during the delay I'd hot-foot over and sure enough they would spawn.

Same here, it's happened to me in past settlements -- just continuing to walk around, usually just for a minute or two, causes the enemies to finally spawn, so you can finish the task. Definitely do NOT walk away from the settlement until you get the all-clear-message, or you will take a negative hit with the settlers... Annoying, sure, but it's not game-breaking at least :/

in graygarden there is a house a little bit away that is in the direction of the outside garden. the house has it's own instance if you go in. if you go in there and go out, the last wave of invaders should spawn, at least in my experience.

Its happens in greygarden because of the geography. The attackers are usually near the river and have not yet been detected by the settlers. Same with Starligh Drive In when the attacked spawn across the hill

I have had a few stuck at "Talk to Preston", and he wouldn't talk to me about that mission. Eventually it went away. Would play that day and the next, mission would still be stuck, but some other day when playing I'd notice that it went away but didn't know when.

Defend a settlement missions, until quest pointer point to settler and they thank you for defending settlement then all attackers haven't been killed. I have had a few that came in a couple of waves of enemies with a small time period between each. A couple I had to go find the enemy in area around settlement.

Yes, this is both what I meant, I should have said I don't leave the Graygarden cell, just initially run the perimeter and then when they finally spawn, I knew where to go next time.

Had an attacker apparently welded to a tree. It was not firing its weapon and the settlers, though not too close, totally did not detect it. Only after I went out to see what was wrong and walked behind the tree.. cause something looked different.. it unlocked and was an available enemy to everyone.

There's been a few times I have had to travel as far over as 5 locations to find the "spawned" raiders... Course, what I like is how you get a "Location Nees Help", but it's a raider that's over 10 locations away. Wouldn't be more ideal if they were say only 2-3 locations away? But that's just me... LOL

Yeah, remember where you found them. You know, mark them on a map. Some settlements, more open perhaps, don't seem to have this issue. When a settlement does, it is rinse and repeat, so I know where those bas^%^%s are.

Well, this post has a time since written, but if I can help anyone...
What I just tried is resurrecting the raiders and killing them again, that worked for me at least

Well i know this is super ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ old but i decided to follow someone's advice and go to the river. This is what i found... Surely enough, there was a raider. Swiming. In the air. Ok. I kill it and see another raider chilling in a broken bus in the road going to arcjet... Allright. I head towards arcjet and find 2 rocket launcher ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ shooting the ground. I am not sure what they were trying to accomplish, probably trying to kill a glitched radscorpion or some molerat or i dont even know what. I head to arcjet and find the rest of the gang chilling in the door. One of them even walked into the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ building when i started to attack them. I had to get inside to kill him just to find that as soon as i got in, the ♥♥♥♥♥♥ got out and i had to eat the loading screen once again. Finally, killed the raiders and got the mission accomplished message. Just adding this in case anyone having a "help defend greygarden" quest and cant find anyone around. They simply wont come, no matter how much you wait. I waited 10 hours in a chair. They didnt move from their spots. They were stuck doing whatever the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hell it was they were doing. I guess they enjoy the good old healthy activities of levitation, ground target practice and last but not least, chilling.
