Key to Kelloggs House - Vanished when stolen

Help guys - I'm a little late coming to play this.
I've just stolen the key from Geneva to get into Kelloggs house in Diamond City. The quest log says I've got the key, it's no longer in Genevas desk. Nick Valentine has said 'Great, you've got the key, now lets get in', but I don't have it. Where the hell is it? Can't find it in my inventory anywhere. When I approach the door all it gives me is the option to pick it but it's too hard.

That sounds really annoying lol -- I can't remember that far back atm for details if I opened it or if Nick opened it.

You can try to go back to the Mayor's Office and open the safe to see if there is another copy of the key?

Try talking to Nick again since maybe he will use the key to open the door?

Worst case: Reload a previous save and try for the key again. Or just Open Console, Click on Door, and type Unlock.

If you do have an earlier save try putting on some high charisma clothes and asking Geneva for the key. I think it was a yellow speech check so it should not be too hard.

If only I had a save - I just use quick save. :(

The mayor also has a key. You could try stealing his, maybe.
